so i crane fly happened to be in my room , i caught it and threw it into my cage , my female veiled saw this and shot her tounge instantly, and then she wouldnt put it back in her mouth!!! instead she came erecting her tounge and pushed it around untill it fell off her tounge ! i am clueless as to what happened! about 5 minutes later she saw the crane fly ona leaf and ate it again only to swallow this time! Can anyone explain!?!?!

what? that sounds crazy! so... she didn't retract her tongue back into her mouth? the crane fly was stuck to her tongue and she was trying to get it off? I'm trying to imagine this..
she kept pushing her tounge back out and stiffining it so the crane fly would fall off and it did ! at first i thought maybe a sharp end poked her tounge but it cant be because crane flys are harmless! i am baffled by this experience!

I once watched a young gracilior snatch up a butterfly that I later found to be harmless. He freaked. He was in a panic getting it out of his mouth. I thought I must have been wrong about the species and it must have been poisonous or at best taste really bad. I now think that the texture/wings freaked him.
