this sounds really silly and i hope other people had the same problem as me sausage my cham hisses alot and it like he goes for me , i asked for advice on here and every one said take your time , which i have ,..... but now he comes up to me and wants to come 0ut and im really scared !!!!!!!!!!!!!!he does not eat of my hand now just wants to walk up my arm but im scared to pick it up if she goes to far and i cant pick him up etc etc ......... hes 5 months old x x any one else the same thing !!!!!!!!!

Hi,

his hissing at you in the past is a sign that he don't want to be taken out or messed with.
alot of chams do this, and most of them are bluffing when it comes to you.

yet I'll bet he is calm as can be when he wants to come out...so take him out then.
it's safe. don't worrie.
what's a big deal about a missing finger anyway if he bites. just superglue a huge hornworm to the stump and noone will notice.

mine was the same way...he was always hissing and wanting to bite me...then one day he just walked onto my hand and up my arm....now every time i open his cage he comes running and wants out...and i have a heck of a time putting him back in..lol...

Most chams out of their cage will be a little nicer. I would not quickly point to health problems for personality change in a cham that age-he is just becoming a feisty teenager.

My Pickle (male veled) was the same way for a long time. Now before I even open his cage he is trying to get out & sometimes does!! I can take him out any time. When it is time to go back in, he hisses, opens his mouth about a foot. I tell him to shut up, pick him up while he is doing all the hissing & mouth open, take him to his cage, and he runs off my arm - still hissing and throwing a fit. That big boy is all talk and no action. BUT don't try that on most chams, until you feel confident wear a soft leather glove that is close to natural skin color. Both of you need to feel confident of what is going to happen.

thanks for the info, he had 2 wax worms from my hand just now so im a very happy girl, will get some gloves 2morw lol but feeling alot better after your posts thats for sure, thank you so much will keep you posted on progress x x

Especially the males! The girls tend to be more laid back. I think its the whole your invading my turf thing with the guys.
