Infertile Eggs

Well my veiled (first time) has layed all 34 eggs into the sand last night. I am amazed that all of those eggs came out of her! They are pretty darn good digger might i add. I will post a pic tomorrow of the eggs, but from what i can tell they look normal.

Now at this point im going to give her some extra crickets running around and some extra water. When should i breed for the the "secondary clutch"? I do want little ones, but i want to keep her happy/healthy. Keep in mind, shes never been breed before. Thanks!

a little over 1, maybe 14 months.

I wouldn't necessarily anticipate a second clutch after laying a non-fertile one.
My advice would be to try and maintain her without excess of food or heat for at least four months before breeding her.
She needs to recover for a few days (are you making sure to dust every feeder with calcium without D3? ... she used up all her reserves making those eggs!)

second clutches don't always happen.
My female veiled laid an infertile clutch at the end of February (right after I acquired her) and did not become receptive until the 10th of June. Those eggs (a fertile clutch) were laid on July 4th and she became receptive again at the end of September. I did not breed her and she is showing no signs of cycling eggs so far.
So, in a period of about 8 months she has laid 2 clutches and we are shooting for no more at this time.
The warmest spot in her enclosure is about 80 degrees and she is fed 7 crickets (or the rough equivalent) every other day.

generally, how long after laying do the female pick up their eating habits? she is drinking like a fish (shes always loved water).

well shes back to eating and drinking like a fish, and the weight is starting to come back. about that last egg, do you think it will pose a problem? when will she form her next clutch, and will she lay the egg with the rest of the next clutch?

I don't know if the egg will be a problem or not.

She is likely working on the next clutch already. If you don't breed her with the male now it will likely contain some fertile eggs and some infertile.

thanks for the reply!
i tried introducing the male and her together in a big fake tree outside in the sunlight. and everytime she shows gravid colors and gapes. hes trying, but she is having none of it lol. i have read before to try once a week, but so far no luck. any ideas?

If she's showing non-receptive then you will just have to wait and see if she is working on another clutch.

well whats wierd is she seems to be showing receptive coloring, but as soon as she sees him, she turns black with yellow/blue spotting. otherwise shes green with blue spots

When she's showing the black color to the male she is showing that she is not receptive or gravid.

i hope her body doesnt still think she gravid due to that last egg in there. i guess i can stick them back together in 2-3 weeks to see if shes changed her mind by then
