Interior Cage Frame

I finally got my table and mitre saws set up and found some spare wood in the garage. I was bored so I decided to try something different. I built a cage/frame to go into the cage itself. I used a whole bunch of dowels to provide pathways all throughout the cage and 2 built in plant pots with some Pothos. It's in my med. 24x12x30 cage housing my 2 1/2 month Ambanja. If this works out, I'm going to do the same with my large 30x30x50 cage as well. Yeah I know, I need more foliage. Just thought I'd share.

that is seriously very cool, i too lovethe planter box idea, makes things alot easier:p

thats it, all these inventive ideas makes me want to build wit my own to hands, and tools of course:D

Thanks guys. I wanted to utilize all the cage interior space and this helps a lot by providing him lots of different pathways. To do the frame would only need a screwdriver, saw, drill with small bit for the dowels and a razor blade. Any cheap $5 saw can cut the frame then you screw them together. You can cut the dowel angles with a razor blade. Just be very careful with drilling the pilot holes for the dowels. Steady hand keep the drill bit straight. The planter boxes can also be done with a cheap saw, but not as precise as a table saw (I'm pretty meticulously anal) I just got back from Home Depot with more wood for the large cage. :D I'm making that a little more intricate since there's more room. Stay tuned..

Very cool. I did something similar for my guys by making a base and attaching some tree branches directly to the base and placing that inside the cage; essentially a bird perch (where I got the idea from). Your idea is very nice with the planter box, great job

now THAT is a very neat idea!!!! i love it!
i may have missed it but how did the screen cage come about? did you already have it and put the wooden frame inside of it or was it constructed around the wooden frame?

thanks,, lisa

Very cool. Thanks for sharing, youve gave me some ideas of my own now! Just one question though, did you varnish it to stop the wood from soaking up water and eventually rotting/moulding?
