Hello All! I posted in here a couple of days ago with a question, but I wanted to give an official introduction to my chameleon. Her name is Donatella, and she is amazing She got settled in easily and has taken very easily to hand feeding, though I don't always do it. She shed her skin a few days ago, so it's good to see that she's growing. I would love to hear a little bit about your chameleons, too!
Chameleon Info:
Your Chameleon - Veiled/Yemen, female, adolescent. Been with me for 8 days.
Handling - Daily, though I don't pressure her to climb onto my hand if she doesn't want to. She is friendly though and has happily climbed right onto my hand several times.
Feeding - Feeding crickets to her a couple times a day until she is full, usually 7ish per session. Offered a couple of meal worms as a treat for her. Also leaving banana or other fruit available sometimes for snacking, though she doesn't go for them. Feeding the crickets apples and bananas so far.
Supplements - Currently lightly dusting crickets with ReptiCal, and will be using ReptiLife vitamins twice a week, too.
Watering - Currently misting habitat several times a day and using a fog machine when needed. My husband has seen her drink the water droplets. I plan on making clean ice cubes and leaving it on the top of her habitat when I leave for work.
Fecal Description - Healthy fecal matter and urate.
History - No previous info, she's barely got a history
Cage Info:
Cage Type - Combo cage, 12x12x24
Lighting - Using UVB and heating lights by ExoTerra on a 12 hour on-off timer.
Temperature - Keeping tabs on temp by noting thermometer changes throughout day. Keeping it between 70 and 80 consistently, perhaps slightly lower at night.
Humidity - Trying to keep humidity levels about 60 percent, difficult at the moment but discovering ways to keep it up while at work.
Plants - No live plants yet, I tend to kill them.
Placement - Cage is on desk in living area (in a small apartment so not many options), relatively high in comparison to the floor. Close enough to an air vent to help control the temperature but the cold AC flow (or heater) does not reach her directly.
Location - Near Houston, TX (Yay for local humidity! Never thought I'd say that...)
