iPhone 3G S

My iPhone 3GS should be here Thursday or Friday. I actually just bought my current iPhone 2 weeks ago and then the new one was announced.

I called them up and was able to return my 3G and the are sending the 3G S. Lucky I was in the 30 day window.

I think the iPhone is amazing. I use it for everything. I have owned windows mobile phones but they do not even come close. Even email and outlook integration is better on the apple phone. WOW. I am a windows guy by day but I have to tell you this iPhone is changing my opinion of apple thats for sure.

Anyone else getting the 3G S?

I can't agree with you more. After going through a plethora of Palm and Windows Mobile, the iPhone is easily the most advanced piece of consumer technology to date. I'm curious to try the new one myself.

Hi Ryan,

You'll love it. I am a mac person and before the iphone I never got to learn my cel phones correctly, by the time I learned something else besides making a call, it was time to change it.

With the iphone, literally is like having a mini mac on my pocket, I do tons of things anywhere, commuting to work I check my emails, setup appointments, read the news, etc.

I can't remember how many times I've been lost or in need of a specific info and the iphone comes to the rescue. It has totally replaced my amex, (which now I can leave home with out it)

My contract is due in 2 years, and we don't know yet if we'll be able to switch to the Gs, but no matter how, I'll get the new one! So stay tuned you might see and old iphone posted on the classifieds soon.

My wife and I were going to get it but once we saw the update coming out for the 3g we opted to wait. The real only big difference from the 3g and 3gs is that the 3gs is 32gb. The update coming out tonight at midnight allows alot of the new features. So we shall wait and see.

Indifferent....

I got an iPhone probably 9-10 months or so ago, and have loved it... I never had an Apple computer, but when I was due for a laptop last month, I figured I'd give Apple a shot... I bought a MacBook Pro for $2,100, and using it, for me, is like reading Chinese. Sure, I can get on the internet, and it works, but I have no idea how to resize a picture on there or do anything functional besides use the internet. I do a lot of different things with Excel, and apparently I have to buy an Excel program for the Mac to make any of it work. The word processing sucks from what I've seen (unless I'm doing it wrong), but I'm gonna figure it out one of these days. It has been sitting on a shelf collecting dust for a month now, and I'm still going strong with my 2003 Sony Vaio laptop. I probably should have just got a new PC for half the price, but maybe in a few months I'll have a better opinion.

I have friends who swear by macs, but old habits really die hard. I've been using this windows interface since I could operate a mouse, anything different is alien to me.

I am sure that the mac OS is really intuitive and easy to use, but if you are used to one thing switching can be quite frustrating.

Anyways, are the new iPhones just a memory and firmware upgrade, or is there more actual processing power inside of it?

I highly doubt it is coming out at midnight. When 2.0 dropped i didnt get it till 7 or 8 in the morning...then the apple server appeared to crash and NO ONE could get the update for a day or so...hopefully they have fixed things on their end so everyone can download the update with out the headache of the 2.o release.

(I want the 3g S sooo bad. im still using the original iphone [i bought it the day it came out...])

I would be willing to take that thing off your hand to end your misery in case your opinion doesn't change :D
Let me know. :p

the Iphone was built for the east coast as it is. as others have mentioned, its frustrating that it is only through AT & T ,

ive used it and played with it, used about 30 different applications and i didn't think much of it. its a glorified phone/mini laptop. i find for bigger handed people a irritance while trying to text. still a few other things that i didn't like.

also it frustrates me that make puts out a new model so quickly, why rush it, why not rework all the problems and improve on a new model for next year.

i never cared for mac, the price of their system is always overpriced for what they offer technology wise, the only thing ever decent with mac products is the software.

Heres how I roll.....clean and simple all the apps I need, no dropped calls. Heck, I even have speed dial. The only grip about this state of the art bad boy is the cord, but you get used to it....

Proc and memory are upgraded , says its 2x faster than the 3 g. They add a real cool feature in the new phone. A 3mp camera with auto focus and a built in macro. You can touch what you want it to focus on , on the screen.

I love the iPhone but I will always be a PC user.

me too

Getting mine Friday too, im still upgrading my software on my 3G to the 3.0 for a test drive of sorts.... :D Glad they updated the storage capacity. If not for that and the video function I prolly woulda just stuck with my 16 GB 3G, but now I don't have to pick which songs are worthy enough to go on there. With the video function I'm pretty sure it'll get filled quickly. I'm happy/anxious :p Just wish AT&T woulda implemented MMS at launch... but can't have it all...

The iPhone looked great untill I realized it was only available through AT&T.:(

I would have jumped ships from Verizon to AT&T if I didn't have to pay $300 to kill the current 2 phones, and activation for the new ones.

I am using the Samsung Omnia PDA phone, and it works well. I have several buddies with iPhones and they seam to like all the wahzoo apps, I like to keep it simple and clean. If I get to many options I get frustrated.

I must say, the Macs are #1 for recording studio work, and using programs like ProTools, and Appleton, but are lacking in the "user friendly" catagory for everything else.

I couldn't agree more. For most people who do not do any graphic art, PCs are fine and half the cost. Why pay so much more for things you will never use.

My gripe about the Iphone is it too is way over priced. These days you can get a decent "pc" laptop for what one of these phones cost.

I need a new phone, my pit ate mine. :(

I couldn't agree more with this. I have a mac, iPod, ect. I was excited about this phone, but I don't want to change carriers. AT&T gets crappy reception in my area. :(

The starting price for an iPhone is $199. That is much less expensive than the Palm Treo 700wx I bought for 680 a few years ago. For 200 bucks you get a mini laptop that can accept calls, voicemail, text messages, has GPS (even the gen1 phones can find you on google maps) etc etc... In my opinion, for the price it beats any netbook with windows or linux out there. Even Google's Andriod phones don't copare with the ease of use and feature set.

Maybe you're right about he service though, I've always lived on the east coast and had Sprint for many years without a problem. Since being in Florida, I received the iPhone and switched to ATT with no issues at all. Reception is great and I never drop a call. I really can't speak for ATT's coverage on the west coast but if it isn't good it would certainly weigh in on my decision to get one.

Apple designs great products. Overpriced? A bit, and yes you can do just about the same stuff with either. Due to prefered development deals, some apps work better on a MAC, but PC's have things Mac's can't run.

It's preference really, but as far as functionality goes, I've yet to meet someone who will give up their iPhone for anything else on the market today.
