Is 2×2×4ft suitable for a panther

I am soon getting a chameleon, I planned on getting a male Yemen but I have researched panthers and they are probably more suitable for me. I had already bought a mesh cage that measures 2x2x4ft, which is suitable for a Yemen, different people say different sizes for panther enclosures, is it suitable?

Yep, that will work just fine. Veileds get larger than panthers, so you are all set - just make sure that you put that cage on something taller than the floor so that your new little one feels secure.

It has a drainage base so I will put it on this stand, drill a large hole in it and put a container on the top shelf

I have my panther in a 4ft long by 3ft high, 2ft wide cage- I find he's on the go all day and loves to also wander around on his free range ropes in the living room a couple of times a day, I personally wouldnt want him in anything smaller ( I'd actually like to see him in something larger) and I find he walks horizontally more than up and down.

I would happily buy something longer but I can't find anything with side ventilation of that size, even though lots of panther chameleon keeping is done in glass here in the UK (because it is significantly colder and less humid than Madagascar) there isn't a wide variety of enclosures suitable for males that I can fit on the stand that I have.

This would be perfect for either cham you mentioned. Having said that, you can always go bigger!!

Hi, I'm in the U.k, I have mine in the largest vivexotic wooden viv- some may frown- but I made sure I added extra vents and a large plastic tray covering floor ,I love the big viewing too, the water from spraying and a big dripper is either sponged out or my live plants soak it up- they've been growing in there for 2 years so aren't too affected by the amount of water. O.k some water escapes but I decided for the size and the fact that wood will keep heat in better in this climate ( and this house which is cold) to go for a wooden viv- if it lasts 5 years and then needs replacing -fine, it's bearing up very well and seems fine at the mo.

I have two problems with glass enclosures. 1) I only have a little room for the tank so I prefer to go high not wide. 2) I am worried about upper respitory infection, I have heard that only top ventilation is ok but I have also geared that it isn't I only have 90cm wide so there arnt many tall glass and mesh enclosures inside those dimentions, only all mesh ones

I tried a false chameleon in a mesh cage but as I say this house/country isn't warm enough, even with a heat lamp plus humidity here was tricky to keep high-well impossible. That's why I like my wooden viv- I bought large vents from ebay , there's two on each side and it works well, My panther is 16" long- a lot of tail but even so He's so active I wouldn't want him in anything less than I have now, but thats just me, as you say the glass ones arent really suitable either. I'd like to custom make one from a wardrobe or something so he can have extra room, I think that will have to wait though.

I think the size you have is ok but always bigger is better.
Anyway if you are in the UK, Muji world makes great mesh vivs with optional solid panel sides. All my cages are made by them.

Mine is made by chameleon muji it has a drainage base, I bought it second hand, only 70 pounds. It is in good condition.

Hi sorry but I'm new to this and can't figure out where to post so going to ask a question here! (Sorry) I'm soon to be getting a 2-3 month old Panther chameleon and I have got a 4ft tall, 2ft wide and 18" deep Viv. Will this be okay for him or is it to large to begin with? Thank you!!
