I am not sure if this is considered sunken or not. She’s a piebald so I know she’s got that browish color but I’m wanting to make sure she looks good!

Hello, and welcome to the forums!

Her eye does look slightly sunken, but if you do a husbandry review we can help figure out why. Just copy and paste into a reply with your answers:

Chameleon Info:
  • Your Chameleon - The species, sex, and age of your chameleon. How long has it been in your care?
  • Handling - How often do you handle your chameleon?

  • Supplements - What brand and type of calcium and vitamin products are you dusting your feeders with and what is the schedule?
  • Watering - What kind of watering technique do you use? How often and how long to you mist? Do you see your chameleon drinking?
  • Fecal Description - Briefly note colors and consistency from recent droppings. Has this chameleon ever been tested for parasites?
  • History - Any previous information about your cham that might be useful to others when trying to help you.
Cage Info:
  • Cage Type - Describe your cage (Glass, Screen, Combo?) What are the dimensions?
  • Lighting - What brand, model, and types of lighting are you using? What is your daily lighting schedule?

  • Humidity - What are your humidity levels? How are you creating and maintaining these levels? What do you use to measure humidity?
  • Plants - Are you using live plants? If so, what kind?
  • Placement - Where is your cage located? Is it near any fans, air vents, or high traffic areas? At what height is the top of the cage relative to your room floor?

Hi. :) Not sure where @Ambilobe123 got to, but I’ll review your husbandry. I’ll be putting my feedback in red.

Chameleon Info:
  • Your Chameleon - The species, sex, and age of your chameleon. How long has it been in your care? Piebald, Female, 5-6 months. Ive had her for about 3 weeks
  • Handling - How often do you handle your chameleon? Almost never You’ll want to start building trust with her. https://www.chameleonforums.com/blogs/building-trust-with-your-chameleon.2396/
  • Feeding - What are you feeding your cham? What amount? What is the schedule? How are you gut-loading your feeders? Crickets, gut loaded medium to large size, 4-5 in the morning, 2-3 at night It’s best to feed just once in the morning so she has time to bask and digest. You could add more variety.
  • Supplements - What brand and type of calcium and vitamin products are you dusting your feeders with and what is the schedule? Repashy ??? They make all sorts of supplements. Which one(s) are you using and how often?
  • Watering - What kind of watering technique do you use? How often and how long to you mist? Do you see your chameleon drinking? I have a pressure mister that I mist 3 times a day, i let dry inbetween sprays, I have a fogger I have on throughout the night here and there, not 24/7 on Yes, you’ll only want to fog at night and when temps are below at least 68-70.
  • Fecal Description - Briefly note colors and consistency from recent droppings. Has this chameleon ever been tested for parasites? Solid form, slighly wet, white part is white, no yellowing. Always a good idea to have a fecal check for parasites.
  • History - Any previous information about your cham that might be useful to others when trying to help you. Previous owners did not seem to have proper humidity
  • Cage Info:
    • Cage Type - Describe your cage (Glass, Screen, Combo?) What are the dimensions? I have the chamelion kit cage, waiting to get a larger one. Mesh Yes, you’ll need at least a 2x2x4’ enclosure for her.
    • Lighting - What brand, model, and types of lighting are you using? What is your daily lighting
      • schedule? I have a mini med combo. UBV and heat lamp. This uvb is incorrect. You’ll want a linear T5 with either a ReptiSun 5.0 or Arcadia 6% uvb. It needs to be long enough to span the width of the enclosure (so 24”) and then basking area should be about 8-9” below. Most chain pet stores don’t carry T5 lights, but I do think PetSmart is starting to carry Arcadia Pro T5, which is a great uvb light.

10-12 hours on, 12 hours complete darkness.
Yes, a 12 hour on/off schedule is perfect.
      • Temperature - What temp range have you created (cage floor to basking spot)? Lowest overnight temp? How do you measure these temps? At night it gets 60* I make sure it is between 65-75/80 during the day. I’m assuming you mean basking area is 80, which is perfect. Night temp drop is awesome! Basking spot is 6 inches below the light, Already commented on distance between light and basking area I have a lower branch and then one torwards the back of the cage for cooling
      • Humidity - What are your humidity levels? How are you creating and maintaining these levels? What do you use to measure humidity? 35-60% humidity- I have a temp and humidity gauge in the cage. Misting when it is low. Ok. Try to keep it below 50% during the day though if you can.
      • Plants - Are you using live plants? If so, what kind? Neon Pathos, there are plastic plants in ther (I boiled to remove chemicals) No artificial for veileds. It only takes one nibble for impaction to occur. Our ladies love eating their plants, so they all need to be live, safe and clean. I am waiting for my bigger cage to slowly implement more real plants. I have branches and moss throuhout the cage No to moss. Another impaction hazard.
      • Placement - Where is your cage located? Corner of my room Is it near any fans, air vents, or high traffic areas? No At what height is the top of the cage relative to your room floor? 5 feet The higher chameleons are, the safer they feel. Getting a taller enclosure should give her more height.
      • Location - Where are you geographically located? SLC, Utah
I am at work but will upload a picture of her whole cage when I get home.
Do you know about egg laying? Your pretty girl is nearing the age when she’ll be sexually mature enough to start producing eggs and will need a lay bin. My girls like larger bins at least 12” long and wide and filled to about 5-6” with moistened play sand. If you need/want more info on egg laying or anything else, just ask. :) Adding some graphics that may be helpful.

I think she might be dehydrated, I know I can do a bath for them with the plants and what not but how soon after signs of dehydration will they die, i made a vet appointment but it’s not for 2 weeks and I’ve doubled how much I’ve been misting her

I don’t know what you mean by doing a bath, but if you mean setting her in water, that does nothing for hydration. Contrary to popular misconception, chameleons do not absorb water thru the cloaca. Showers are not recommended as water that feels lukewarm to us can be scalding hot to a reptile.
Keep misting and you could set up a dripper. You can make one from a plastic party cup with a pin hole in the bottom. Put some ice cubes in it and set it on top of your enclosure where it will drip on a plant.
She really doesn’t look at all bad from the pics. What color have her urates been?
