Is George a Male?

Hello!
I’m a new panther chameleon owner, when I bought mine I was told it was a male! But after googling the difference between both sexes I am left unsure.
Wondering if anyone can help me!

He’s still very weary of me as I’ve only had him about 3 weeks now, so I haven’t tried handling him yet, so I can’t get any up close pictures. These are the best pictures I have right now!
Any help would be greatly appreciated:)

The angle of the first pic is what you're shooting for. You really want a good closeup with the tail out like that. How old is your sweet baby?

This is a tough one, at least for me (I’m not good at this anyhow). Can you try to get a better pic…maybe use food as a motivator?
I’ve tried hand feeding him, he wants nothing to do with it LOL
And he usually won’t eat if I’m up close to his cage, he’s still getting used to his new home and new owner.
He’s also terrified of my phone when I go to take pictures :(

This is a great guide to building and maintaining trust. https://www.chameleonforums.com/blogs/building-trust-with-your-chameleon.2396/ It takes a lot of patience, but is well worth it. I’ve been so very fortunate with all of my panthers and they’ve not been very shy at all. I do still routinely work on trust building though to maintain it. Go at his pace, avoid direct eye contact, don’t wear red (triggers some chams) and have some yummy treats that you are ok with holding. Never use tongs when feeding as tongue injuries are a real risk.

I don't know much about panthers but I have a male veiled, and what I have been told is to check for a bump on their back feet, if "he" has them he is a boy. ( a least for veiled chams) I hope this may help!

For panthers you look at the base of the tail right after the vent to see if there is a bump (for the hemi penis) if no bump then it’s a girl. This identification method is when they are very small and is rather challenging to tell. Females don’t color as much as males. They stay a peachy orange or white dull instead of coloring up bright.
But veilds you are correct, you look for a tarsal spur on back foot. 😊
