Is he eating enough?!?!Help

My 5 month old male panther has been eating the same amount of crickets everyday, but not that many. I keep 10 crickets in his cup everyday, and he sees them but never eats them out of the cup. When I get home from school he never has eaten any, and I will hand feed him and he eats! But He has been eating 2-5 crickets every day since the day I got him. I know they are supposed to be eating 10-12 crickets daily, so I am worried. After he has one or two crickets, he stops showing interest. I assume he is smart enough to know when he is hungry, so I have been letting it go. I get home from school around 3 in the afternoon, and his daily routine has been to eat 2-3 hand fed crickets when I get home, and then crawl into his plant and sleep at 4:30 which is way early. Any ideas? He s eating 1/6 of what the forums say he should be. :(:(:(

How big are the crickets? When do your lights go off? Can you fill out the form that is the "how to ask for help" at the top of the health board?

I have filled it out in my other posts. His lights are 7-7 everyday and he is feeding on large crickets dusted with calcium with no D3

He's definitely sleeping too early in my opinion. But you've not had him long at all. He may just be adjusting to your lighting schedule. Give him time honestly. You need to breathe. It's only been like 4 days? If you have a multivitamin that's fine. The fact that he's eating at all is good. Some chameleons don't eat at all until they've settled in for a week. The fact that you are so anxious is likely not helping him settle in (though I get it) you shouldn't have just made another thread when all the advice you were given in the other thread was correct. He also may need to be trained to be cup fed? Do you know if the breeder you got him from cup feeds? Also you should invest in an automatic mister of really good quality (they usually run around the mid 150 dollars or so). They will save you not only time but also make sure he gets hydrated enough. The fact that he was drinking in front of you is usually not normal for panthers.

Sorry...not looking through a lot of posts to find the answers to the how to ask for help thread.IMHO it's not something anyone whose trying to help should have to do. Not trying to be difficult...just pointing out that if we have to do that it takes away from time we could be helping someone else.

My baby cham didn't know how to eat out of the clear cup. Next morning, I allowed a days feeding into the bottom and he ate every one. Clear cups confuse them.

A bit cocky huh? :coffee: Do you really expect anyone who wants to assist to go searching your other posts?

Im sorry haha. It takes 30 seconds to click on my profile and view that post vs me taking 5 minutes to type the whole thing out again

my cham ate around that many when he was about your panthers age, he might have eaten more.. try hand feeding him or letting the crickets roam around in the cage. my veiled goes crazy when they are on the loose and about now he easts around 6 or 7 large crickets almost every day
