i have calyptratus babys 2 days ago the hatched...
they sleep all day, and wake up for a couple of seconds and move to other branch...
they walk with their eyes closed and they open just for a couple of seconds...
They should not be sleeping unless the lights are out. Baby Veileds are in almost constant motion when little. How long did they incubate for? Your temps seems fine.
Brad,
i told you that i incubated at 28ºC not 82ºc :S and Julirs do you know what can i do?
someone knows something about eyes closed? they are 2 days old
There might not be much you can do. What are you housing them in and what kind of lighting do you have on them. Wrong UVB lighting can cause eyes to be closed. Another reason is dehydration.
I would not use a compact and I would not use the cloth (I am not entirely sure of it's purpose). Can you get hold of a linear UVB tube light. Can you take a picture of your baby set up?
Julirs, i don't really like compacts i will switch to a linear as soon as i can, the use for the cloth is to stop fruit fly escapes i saw it in chameleons e-zine this kind of housing...
when i put the humidifier the chameleons looks more active i don't know how much time can i put it but i let the fog goes out and put it again...
If the cloth is between the light and the chams UVB isn't getting through, and if it is the chams would have to be like 1 or 2 inches from the top to get it. Even finer screen cuts down UVB quite a bit so imagine what cloth and screen will do to it. Have you seen them drink yet? and were the yolks completely absorbed? They could be slightly underdeveloped but if they appear to be normal size I doubt it. Good luck.
Justin
Also if the cloth makes the cage darker than usual they may actually think it is sunset or nightfall and just be actually sleeping like normal. When you get the linear tube let it go unfiltered on them, see if they perk up and seem more alert.
