Is it true some chams don't like red

Today I had a red jacket sitting next To my Jackson's chameleon cage and he was like a dark green and as far away from it as possible. Then I saw a vid about how some chameleons don't like red so I moved the jacket and came back in later and he was bright green. So I was wondering if some chameleons really don't like red?

Well, not necessarily red. But quite often each chameleon has some sort of color of item that they do not like. So yes, yours probably does hate red Weird little critters..

hmmm... this is funny because i posted a thread earlier this week about how i feel red confuses my chameleon because he will not eat out of this red cup i try feeding him in but will out of another one which is a diff color..

did a little experiment once with painted cardboard, to see what paint colours my chams (panthers) disliked (so as not to paint their cages with those colours).
if I remember correctly, Red was the only colour that got any reaction.

I have experienced that as well with red coloration. In my case, my old cell phone had a red case. Whenever I took pictures of them with the cell phone, they would flare up and take great pics as the chams posed perfectly for the pics. Now, when I took pics with a Nikon, they didn't flare up near as much as they did with the cell phone with the red case. I had to work with the cham more to get them to flare up.

I have notices the same with red and bright orange...it stands to reason because those are display colorations ie intimidation colors.

I've read that RED is a "fighting color" for panthers, at least...if they are red they are ready to fight, so if they see red they think "that's someone ready to fight".

I've theorized that red reads as "bird" to chameleons (note how this is my theory, not something I've seen discussed). As birds are predators, they react negatively.

One thing I think we should keep in mind is that different eyes see color differently.

Among humans the most common form of "color blindness" is "red/green" color blindness which is most common in men.

So, what we see as "red" might well fall into the "predatory animal" range for a chameleon. We just don't know enough about how they see colors to know for sure.

I find this interesting as I have a panther chameleon bit in my room I have a red curtain, my Cham loves the red curtain ! As soon as it comers out the viv he's reaching to try to get to it !

Mine don't like red and black, so I have a green and yellow Brasil hoody next to the enclosures so I can put it on before handling them

My vets scrubs are red, i think to troll the lizards. It works, they now think anyone in red is gonna take them away, open their mouth, put them on stainless, and prick their little feet.

I think that a background color (curtain, wall, plant, etc.) doesn't bother them like the color of something "alive" (human wearing certain colors or patterns, moving camera, etc.)....if you know what I mean.

In all seriousness, I wore a bright red shirt yesterday for the first time around my cham.. in fact, I held him yesterday and he was not really acting any different than any other time

My panther doesn't particularly like red, but he HATES pink! I have to cover up around him every time I wear it.

First, he tries to hide - which he never does. . . and then he'll start to gape and hiss - which he never does. . . and then I remember. . . I'm wearing pink!

Yes or atleast my Jackson's does when I wear red or orange he gets mad and turns bright yellow and greed and puffs up with mouth open like he is going to bite me but with any other color he is a clam loving little guy

Both my veiled chameleons were in my living room facing a red wall and they didn't mind

My chameleon hated my red phone case too, but I have red curtains and she loves to go to sleep on them! The phone case was bright red and the curtains are deep red.
