Is it worth making an enclosure?

Right my veiled is due for an upgrade and needs a bigger enclosure. I can get one of the aluminium ones 24x24x48 for £155. I was wondering if it would be worth making my own and if I could actually do it. I'm not sure if I could. Just wanted to see what my options were etc.

its worth it, i built my own, its nice cuz you can make it any size you want,(i did 36x24x48) and it costed me the same as the 24x24x48 aluminum. its just a matter of if you are up to the work.

I have just ordered two wooden vivs 36lx20dx48h with 10 air vents and a 9 inch hole on top for the basking light. Each will cost £128.

I would have agree here. I have made a cage for a friend before and also one for my self about 2 mos ago. The first I made of wood the second out of aluminum.

If you get some self satisfaction of building your own stuff, I would recommend building your own. if not, it aint worth the extra headache.

Most likely they are made here in the USA, then shipped over seas to the UK, then you guys eat all that shipping cost, then you have second or third party mark up.
Capitalism at it's best.

Well they are hard to come by + a bloke makes them himself so he's bound to make a mint.

We bought an exoterra 45x45x60 cost £65 we then went to Ikea bought a display cabinet already made up trom the bargain section vented it put aquarium sealant over the holes that were drilled and voula (?? Sp) cost £69
The cabinet overshadows the exo 100% make all the way for me

i made my own so that i could get the exact size i wanted to fit into a space. i can't remember exactly how much it cost but i'm sure the materials were less than £100, contiboard from b&q cut to size, mesh from ebay, some runners and square dowel to make doors and a few screws. then you need aquarium sealant and possibly some non-toxic varnish to seal and you're done. i'd say it's worth it, mine looks mint too. let me know if you wanna see a pic

i just built a cage. it cost me about 50 dollars in materials and about 5hrs of work.

i made my own and its fairly big its 3ft wide by 2ft deep by 4ft tall my cham loves it theres loads of room in there for her.it cost me about 60-70 pound to make it but it was well worth it jus haveing the satisfaction of knowing your cham is living in something you made lol. i dnt no how to post pics on her but if i did i would deffo put them on
