Is my cage too dense??

I know the issue many times with people's cages are they don't have enough branches or foliage in them. But I'm curious if there's such thing as "too much".

My schefflera is quite full. Granted, Lewis (my panther) can easily work his way thru it, but I just wonder if he'd like it a little more open. Thanks!

@Big Gulp looks good! wish my schefflera was that full... instead i had to learn the hard way about how those things are really sensitive to over watering. what is that plant with the red flower?

Thank you.

The red flower is actually fake...got it from Hobby Lobby to add a little color. ;)

As far as your schefflera goes, how do you have it planted and what does your misting and lighting look like?

Lewis is beautiful!!!!
Lewis says "awww, shucks". ;)

Quick question for you all. If you notice, you can see water spots on my leaves. I use distilled water in mt misting system. I thought that would eliminated water spots.

i DID have it planted in a pot that i got it in from a reptile shop's booth at the reptile expo in January. I have a Mistking and it's set to mist about 15 minutes total a day on varying schedules. I just think it was over watered so i'm definitely going to be repotting everything with less soil and trying to get air stones because i'm getting an enclosure upgrade and getting new plants. I was just using a Reptisun 5.0 UVB for lighting but that's getting upgraded too with a quadfixture with a plant bulb from Light Your Reptiles. so since my set up is going to be more "plant friendly," i was looking into different plants that's why that red flower caught my eye! lol. Guess i'll have to stick to a bromeliad to add some color.

I have mine potted in a decent sized pot. Make sure there are drainage holes in the bottom. If you have a saucer on the bottom, yank it off. First I put river rocks in the bottom about 1-2" deep. They are decent size so they won't fall thru the holes. You can get bags on them at Dollar Tree.

I then add some screen, but you probably don't have to. Then I add the soil (organic).

I have a Mistking that goes off 4 times a day, 5 minutes each time. So it can get pretty wet, but I have no issues at all.

I also have the quad fixture from Todd at LYR. You're gonna love it.

Does anybody have suggestions as to where someone in Cincinnati, Ohio could get a scheflerra? They look awesome!

Home Depot has them cuz i see them all the time... but i'm out here in socal. idk about your local home depot.

Yah the pot i had had drainage holes but i think it's definitely the fact that all i had was soil with a mix of perlite, which didn't seem too much at that. i've seen those river rocks at dollar tree, but too heavy for my needs cuz i will be hanging plants. that's why i was looking at those grow stones, cuz they're super light weight. glad to hear the LYR fixture is gonna be great! i'm definitely anxious to get my new set up ready.
