A last week I noticed my chameleon was making weird noises (i.e. popping noises, coughing) and he started sleeping differently with his head up. I took him to the vet as soon as possible and she gave him some antibiotics.
I’m not sure how old he his but he’s really small so I assume he’s just a baby. He’s in a 16x16x30 mesh cage with fake plants, fake branches & a fake vine. I put hydroballs at the bottom of his cage. 50W basking light + UVB are on 12 hours a day. The humidity ranges from 60-80%. I spray him twice a day. The bottom of the cage is almost always 70°F & the top is usually in the lower 80’s.
I got him less than two weeks ago from a pet store. The first few days he seemed fine. I saw him eat two crickets within the first 3 days of bringing him home. He wasn’t interested in the mealworms at all.
He’s constantly standing on his two back legs and opening his mouth. He’s also moving around his cage a lot but I feel like he’s going to die soon His eyes have been closed these past 3 days during the day and he hasn’t shown any interest in the crickets that I put in his cage. My question is did I make him sick or was he already sick before I got him? Do you think he’ll pull through?
(In the photo I’m not squeezing him I’m just trying to get him warm)
(The last picture is of him right now)
