What happen to my 6-month female chameleon? Please help!

She never changed color before this Nov, except when she's angry or felt uncomfortable. And usually she just lie on the fake tree branch.

Start from the mid-Nov,

she became active. she was always climbing. She even walk down to the bottom of the cage. And when I brought her the feeding cup, she climb on my arm instead of eat. She did eat some after that. feel like she was not very interested to her food than usually.

Another weird thing is that she change her color to a dark grey to blackish color with blue speckles all over her, and the color stay all the time, even when she's sleeping.

We thought she was pregnant, so we use a 12" flower pot filled 3/4 sand. we made it Moist and fluffy. We thought she would dig and lay eggs. We even hang a black curtain outside of cage, just in case she doesn't want us to look at her while she is digging. But she never walk into the pot.

Are we wrong? Is she pregnant? Is she sick? What's wrong with her. Please help. We are so worried. What should we do? Thank you so much.

"Another weird thing is that she change her color to a dark grey to blackish color with blue speckles all over her" - Sounds like gravid colors.

She looks like she just hit sexual maturity.

Also, just because she seems suddnely gravid (which she isnt) doesnt mean she has to lay eggs right now.

it takes females 4-6 weeks to lay eggs once they start developing them.

Shes not gravid, shes just mature.

keeping the lay bin in her cage at all times is the only way to ensure she will lay if and when shes ready.

and just becuase she has her big girl colors, that doesn tmean shes going to lay eggs right away.

I am no expert, but I don't completely agree. If you go ONLY by the pictures that were posted, then she is not gravid. However, if she has changed her colors to a darker, gravid coloring, and the pictures above do not show that, then she may be gravid.

song1c, Pictures of her now, in her dark or gravid colors would help us out. It is hard to say one way or the other without current pictures. If the above pictures are the dark colors you are talking about then she is not pregnant (gravid).

As camimom said, if she is gravid, she will need a proper laying bin by 4-6 weeks of starting egg production. It is a good idea with females to always have the laying bin in the cage and available to her.

Females who are Gravid don't change colors back and forth.

And I am an expert because I bred veiled a already.

Once females hit maturity, they need a lay bin in their cage at all times.

Agreed, if you read the first post, they state that she changed color and stays that color, even when sleeping.

I don't mean to sound condescending, but that does sound like a gravid female. Nowhere does the OP say that she changes back to her lighter colors. This is why I asked for a current pic.

PS- Just because I have not bred them does not mean I don't know what I am talking about.
