Hello

how often do i dust calclum (with or without d3) and herptivite on my panthers superworms? how often do you guys do it? he gets a tiny bit of sunlight from the window and i herd thats a good source of d3 for them. but i dont wanna give him too much of the calcium WITH d3. I havent used it yet, i only use the calcium without d3 and herptivite on every other superworm i give him which is about 5 daily? btw i gut load my superworms with potatoes carrots collard greens etc

muti-vitamin x1 a month
calcium with out d3 every other feeding or once a day
calcium with d3 x2 a month i do mine on the 1st and 15 or every month
:p

You should be using a multivitamin twice a month to and yes you can over do it with the supliments. Using to much over a period if time will cause a couple of problems such as a gular edema damaging the liver. If your feeders come out covered in powder it's to much, just lightly powederd is plenty

alright sounds good. i put them in a bag with a tiny bit of supplements and just shake it, but they barely get covered. i will dust everyother feeding with calcium without d3, and with d3 twice a month. and once a month with the herptivite. Thanks everyone!

What I do is I drop one hornworm into the powder and pick it up and blow off all the excess so there is a very fine tint of powder showing then i give it to him cuz he loves the worms ! I dont dust the crickets because he doesnt always eat them right away. And when the mister system goes it ot could wash away any dusting on them off so i just do the hornworm and hand feed him it. And he seems to be doing juuuust fine. :D

YES there is such a think as too much supplements. Especially those that are fat soluble - they build up in the system and cause problems.

Sunlight going through glass provides ZERO UVB (the glass blocks it). Do you have UVB emitting tubes?

You can use the Herptivite twice a month (all you truly need) and up to even four times a month. Herptivite brand does not have preformed vitamin A, so it doesnt have the worry of that building up if you use it more than twice.
What brand of Calcium with D3 do you have? Each brand has a different amount of D3, which will tell you how often (or not often) to use it.
You want a vitamin and phosphorous free calcium supplement for most of the time.

Here is some info that will help you with supplements and how to gutload better:

sandrachameleon: the calcium with d3 is the same brand as the herptivite, which i believe is Rep-cal or some thing. it is a good brand, and i dont think hes getting too much. i try to limit it to once to twice a month, because i take him outside sometimes and he gets enough vitamin d3 from the sun and the main reason for sudden death of chameleons are old age, poising, or vitamin d3 overdose. But anyways thanks for all your help guys

Rep-Cal with D3 is the MOST potent brand available, that I know of. In most cases, one wouldnt want to use that more than twice a month LIGHTLY. Have a look at the link I provided that lists the content in the various common brands, and compare RepCal to the others. Im not saying its a bad product - I used it myself for years because that's what was available. Just pointing out that it's got way more D3 in it than many other brands commonly used. So you're right to use it only once or twice a month :)
