Chamaeleolis barbatus is an Anolis, but not a Cuban anole, but it is from Cuba. Anolis is scattered throughout the Caribbean. What makes barbatus so unique, and in my mind interesting, is that it has some adaptations and behaviors that demonstrate convergent evolution with "old-world" chameleons. It is also one of, if not the, largest Anolis. They are impressive creatures, but yes, they are expensive. I suspect we will be seeing more and more of them available and they should come down in price.
