Is this an acceptable treat?

Hey everyone,

I just caught this housefly/blue bottle fly in my house and am wondering if it could be a good one time treat. I don’t make a practice of feeding wild caught bugs, but I wanted to see if this enriching bug would be ok to feed one time. Any thoughts ?

There has randomly been a fly get inside of Nelsons cage that I left in there and they randomly disappeared lol I wouldn't suggest it but hey, he LOVES the hunt of a good strong fly lol

What? While I wouldn't feed a WC fly due to their attraction to filth, carrying god knows what, there are many times feeding WC is appropriate and beneficial. How do you know this is a huge risk for parasites?

I've taken the 'risk' a few times and thrown a house fly in his cage.

My chams a fed an almost exclusively WC diet from Spring to Fall. Bird Grasshoppers suddenly started popping up last week. But as mentioned above, flies tend to like dead, rotting food, not something I’d want my feeders gut loaded with!

Order some BSFL if you want to give him some flying prey.

I let the fly go. I didn’t want to risk it. I already have some BSFL, so I’ll just wait for those to mature into flies. But if I catch a wild katydid/grasshopper wouldn’t those be safe since they feed on grass/plants?

If you are 100% sure there is no chance of pesticides being sprayed in the area, feed away.

Also understand that if you choose to do this your Cham should be examined by a vet yearly just to make sure no freak accidents happen.

Not a cool story really

Just went camping had to go potty. While on the throne a grasshopper apparently joined me and he didn’t like me taking the toilet paper. Chased me out screaming while trying to pull my pants up at the same time.
