i have been searching all over and asked around, have a few of these caterpillars they are black orange and black and fuzzy and im wondering if it would be safe for my chameleon to eat, dont want to feed him something toxic .. located and from ontario canada
That looks like a Wooly Bear Caterpillar and is probably not safe to feed your cham due to the setae (long, thick, furlike hairs) which could become lodged in the tongue or throat & cause major issues - BUT - if you catch and keep them till they hatch out as the Isabella Tiger Moth you could feed the moths to them.
yes thats what i intend to do thanks!! i wasnt sure, but got a few in critter cage going to see if they will change into moths .. Thanks again ill stay away from caterpillars!
