Hi there, got a young veiled and we are unsure if its a male or female. Attatched is a picture of its back feet.. We did ask the store we purchased it from for a male but the guy who ordered it stupidly said that the chameleon was too young to be sexed, which i know now is untrue as i heard that tarsal spurs are visible from birth.

Thanks,
Stephanieeeee

I think I can see spurs on his feet, the pic is really blurry though. Can you see little white spurs on the back of his rear legs?

nope, don't think so. just looks like a bend in its leg and not so much a spur.. nothing white there anyway. also, when it gets pissed its colours are just dark, no reds or blues or whatever. just kind of black spots

here are more pics taken when we got it.. but they arent from behind it where you can see the potential spurs. there not any other physical factors that tells you the sex, no?

When your chameleon gets older, and if it is a male, the spurs will become more prevalent. If it's a female, you will still see no spurs.

okay, im just worried that if its a girl we're goin to have to get stuff ready for her to lay eggs. which is why we wanted a male in the first place, but never mind

Stoofycat,
If you take a clear picture of him from behind that shows his back leg's heel, we will clear this confusion once and for all. Sexing veiled is not a terribly complicated process. They indeed can be sexed immediately.
There is no need to wait until he/she turn into an adult.

But, we have to get that clear picture of it's heel.

I'd say it's a female. I just got my 4 month old veiled from a local petshop ( I ordered a male)--When 'he' arrived I noticed 'he' was clearly a she. I brought it to the managers attention and he said they don't guarantee sex. I explained how easy it is to sex a veiled--He didn't seem to interested. Either way, I have a female.... and she's great!
