Is this silly for me to worry about?

Should I be concerned about a bird flying down and snatching my Panthers when I put them outside to enjoy the sun's rays? Every once in a while a flock of ravens will come through my neighborhood like it's a Hitchcock movie. My Panthers are still young, under 5 months old, so they are very bite sized.

Yes definitely be worried. I know its happened before. I would just get an outdoor cage and put him in that

ABSOLUTELY!!! I almost had my adult panther snatched by a hawk. I literally knocked it out of its flight as it was swooping in to get my chameleon.

Oh wow. OK. I just liked the idea of them being able to enjoy with the sun without seeing it through a screen cage. Maybe I'll have to train my wife's Yorkie to keep watch!

yes in a perfect world it would be nice to have our chameleons just be one with nature! If you sit outside with your chameleon while it basks in a small tree or plant it can be done that way. Bear in mind, they can easily escape if you turn your back also. The day of my hawk encounter I was sitting crouched down in a chair with my back to the hawk.Apparently he did not see me. My cham was sitting on a long branch that I had stuck in the dirt of a pot. He was really easy pickins' now that I think about it. Luckily when the hawk swooped my cham turned dark and turned sideways on the branch which alerted me that something was up. As I turned to look I saw the hawks tallons by the side of my face and I swatted the thing out of mid air! True story!!!

Yeah, we used to require our chihuahua be escorted outside by the bigger dog. She's now a big chihuahua (around 9 pounds) so we're less wary.

OMG!! :eek:You must've had a heart attack! wow...that is the craziest thing I've ever heard. I was out with my little guy in his tree and I saw a huge hawk land in a big tree near my back yard and I was like"time to go inside!" I've always been paranoid about that, but your story is making me even more paranoid and careful:eek:

lol. I can laugh about it now but yes I was so shooken up when it happened. Another time I came outside and a big hawk was sitting on the cage bouncing up and down. I ran out there and yelled at it and it flew up on the wire above. I thought about it after that I should have got a picture!!
