Is this weird for a Veiled Chameleon to do?

This morning My veiled gets under the basking bulb and puffed up and opened his mouth...no hissing
was he practicing ?? xD

I wasn't disturbing it...I saw it from a distance

What's his basking temp? He might be too hot.

Chams "PANT" with there mouth open like a dog when they get too hot.
maybe the basking bulb is too hot for him.

Chameleons also stretch and yawn.
Was he just waking up?
How long was his mouth open?
Sometimes this behavior is accompanied by a little all over shudder.

Is it the normal behavior then because my male ws gaping then shook his body the other day, it freaked me out i thought that he may have a blockage.

he did shed later this day...like a bit of white showed under his belly...

it was in the morning...and he wasnt like gaping for a long time...just opened his mouth like he was yawning lol
