what's the best substrate to use when she is ready to lay her eggs? everyone says play sand but store owners say no.

Tredel I personally use 60% soil and 40% playsand. I wash the playsand and when I mix the two together I keep it moist enough that I can make a tunnel with my finger and it won't collapse in when I take my finger out. You don't want her tunnel collapsing on her as then she can be suffocated.

Never, NEVER listen to a shop keeper. They will tell you anything that makes a sale. If in doubt, come here and ask!
