Isopods!! Need info..

I have done the search tool for Isopods but mostly came up with them being used as cleaners for live terraniums...
Does any one have experience with breeding and using them as feeders?

My other concern is the Isopods being wild caught carrying parasites and such..
*how long to wait before feeding off ??
*feed off first generation or wait until second ??
*what type of food ??
*housing temps/conditions??

any help would be appreciated....Thanks in advance..

Have you tried looking on dendroboard.com ?

They use them often as feeders for PDFs and the guys there will be very helpful with answering your questions. They might not be good at questions about feeding them off, but they can really help with breeding them and questions in general.

Poison dart frogs. Sorry for the acronym :). I am active on that board as well and we are always looking for a variety of small feeders for the frogs.

Thanx sandra, that article is awesome.
i hope my isopod colony takes off well. they look pretty low maintenance.
i might set up a small live terranium for them for looks, theyr kinda neat to look at also..

I think they're neat too :)
The main thing you need is patience. Takes a good while for the first generation to become adult.

The ispods have just positive aspects. I have them in enclosures for my smallest species as an additional food source and they compost the fecals of your chameleons

Best regards
Benny
