Just a few pics of the new cage. Very close to decorating. I have all the major components done. I have to hook up the humidifier...but its coming together. Will post final in a few days
Yes....I found some...not what I wanted....but it will work. The edges are not as smooth as the diamond stuff I have seen on this site.......but it should be okay. I have some cups located on the background to have some live plants in....and there will be an umbrella plant in the sink base.
I used great stuff foam....and what worked best for me was to use it slow. It seemed to stick better to the plywood backpanel and it was easier to control. I really enjoyed this part of the build. The foam is great because you can tear parts out and add to it. I then painted the entire thing.......I did mask off all the wood branches and driftwood....and that took a longtime...but it was worth it when the paint went flying. I used my bager airbrush and some good non toxic water based paint. I use black, 2 shades of grey and a beige. I then clear coated the whole thing and on the final coat I dusted the foam with sand to add a bit of texture. I wanted to do the thinset mortor coat but didnt want the weight of it. The enclosure has been out in the garage for about 2 weeks now to allow everything to cure good. Next is to plant the cups I have hidden....decorate and put the doors on..
I will post measurements....but I kinda made it up on the fly. The only thing I wanted to work with was a muskee 10 drop in laundry tub for drainage. Other than that.....I had to make sure it was short enough to get it into the basement if my wife decides she no longer wants it in the living room.
