Jackson basks all day...

Hi, I'm a little worried about my male jackson. He basks in the same spot for pretty much the entire day.

It started to get a little chilly here recently and it was cold for a day or two but I just started putting the heat on. Right now the room temp is about 70 and his basking spot about 76. Humidity in his cage is abo e 60 during the day. May drop a little at night.

He drinks and eats(not as much as I thought he should) but this whole sitting in the same spot all day has me a little worried. He's appx 4-5 months old.

Anyone have any suggestions for me?

Try raising his basking temp to around 80 and see what happens.

76 is a bit coldm even for jax.

Ok. Ill try. I was told that they shouldn't even have a basking light by someone. I'm not completely new to chams so I knew that probably wasn't true.

When it comes to lights hurting their eyes. Is that in regards to uvb. I have a cfl bulb on top that I'm going to move down and hoping its not too bright. He can't touch it so I'm not worried about burns.

So I raised the basking spot to almost 83. When I put him back in he didn't go back there. And now he's sleeping somewhere else. Well see how tomorrow goes.

I would move the basking light over to the branch where he likes to sit. From what I have read on this forum is the problem with the CFL lights has been resolved so it is no longer an issue. I have a double dome light with Omar's basking light and a UVB light so when he basks he is also under some UVB. I also have another UVB plus two regular full spectrum lights in a spot he likes that is away from the heat so he can still get some UVB without the heat.

I shouldve clarified, the cfl is one of those 6500k for the plants. I have a tube reptiglo for uvb. And the branch is under the cfl light where it is warmest spot in the cage. He has plenty of places to hide and get away from that heat.

I think I have the cage set up well. Plenty of pathways, live plants and fake.

Now I just need to get him eating more.

what do you mean by "move down"
all lights should be on the top of the cage, not down along the sides

It is on top, I had raised the dome a little at first with small blocks under the rim. So I took the blocks out and put the dome on the screen.
