Jackson Chameleon life span

So Jackson chameleons from what I understand can live 9 maybe 10 years, yes? At least the males. And the females will live less. Please confirm for me if the following is true. A jackson chameleon female, as with most chameleons will not live as long as a male, and live even less than they normally would if they breed.

I know this may seem like a ridiculous question, but do jackson chameleons, or any chameleon for that matter live less after breeding, even if they are male?

I believe 9-10 years is at the extreme end of the spectrum for chameleon lifespan, and 5-7 is more common.

My understanding is that the main reason females do not usually live as long is that each time they produce and lay eggs (or give birth for Jacksons) it creates a potential for reproductive problems. The more times this happens the more likely something will go wrong. In addition, reproducing increases their stress which could also reduce their lifespan.

I doubt that a male's lifespan would be reduced by breeding except in extreme circumstances such as breeding far too often. However, I don't have real-life experience with this so maybe someone else has more insight.

I figure males are not affected, especially if they only breed once. But 9-10 years may be in the extreme, but from what I've heard jackson chameleons tend to live longer than most. I suppose someone could correct me on that.

I too had the figure in my head of up to 10 years for a male so it made it even harder to lose my Monty at just 2.5 years. I fully expected to have the lovely l'il dude around for a LOT longer.

Just enjoy everyday as though there is no tomorrow. Appreciate every second you have with family, pets, friends and yourself. Chances are, even if you get reincarnated, you won't remember the previous lives. Life is fleeting and unfortunately, even when lived long into the 90's, toooooo short! I hope everyone gets everything out of life they wish for. But to answer your query, a jax should enjoy 5-7 years of life.

I know exactly how old he was - he was born on 3rd September 2011 and I got him at 7wks old weighing just 2g. I did everything by the book as far as I am aware. He was one of a kind snd I loved every minute he was with me. He had a growth over a shattered tooth a few months before he died which was operated on, and he made a good recovery. He then got sick and despite best efforts by my vet, I lost him. I miss him so much.
