hi everyone :) i have a 4 month old Veiled, but ive always been interested in Jackson's, especially j.merumontanus :D has anyone had experience with this species? and i was wondering if they could live with SoCal weather  i know their a montane species and require cooler temps, but i dont know if they can tolerate 90 degrees days and 65 degrees nights  and im also worried about the SUMMER! i doubt they could handle that :(

any feedback would be great :D

I've kept merus off and on...not sure they could take those high temperatures often since mine never had to do it.

To keep those in soca you are looking at inside and airconditioner. I don't think the 100 you hit once in a while would work for them.:(

I have a Jackson's and he's mainly inside all the time. Now that the temp is coming down into the 70's I'm able to take him out for some sunlight, but he has to be an inside cham due to the hot Florida climate. And mine's been a real delight to have, and he's my first chameleon ever. I was told not the get one as my first, but he hasn't been challenging at all, especially having owned lots of other reptiles. So if you have a veiled, getting a Jacksons will probably be a pretty smooth addition.

I've had T. jacksonii xantholopus (yeah, I know, common as dirt:rolleyes:), and the 90 degrees would be the problem. Assume that a montane really doesn't want to be above 85; then, if you've got the air conditioning and can keep up the humidity, give it a try! You Californians are in better shape for montanes in some respect than us Michiganders, as most all of you have air conditioning.

Merus are not for beginners! This is not only about temperatures.
