I recently adopted a chameleon last monday, and I was wondering how long it takes for them to settle into their new homes? His cage area has been moved around a couple times until its found its permanent place yesterday (My bearded dragon didn't like seeing the chameleon so we had to move him). He's been eating since day one but I've never seen him drink, however he does not look dehydrated. Whenever I look at him he's always in the same spot under his basking light. Is this normal? Sorry, I'm a new chameleon owner. Anyway here is the form in case something is off with my husbandry.
Chameleon Info:
Cage Info:
Current Problem - what i wrote above in the paragraph!
Chameleon Info:
- Your Chameleon - Veiled, Male, 5months, and about a week.
- Handling - I've handled him only a few times. When taking him to the vet for his checkup, and when I took him out to add some stuff to his cage. I do not plan on handling him more than once a week if I have to. Preferably he's going to be left alone as much as I can do so.
- Feeding - I'm feeding him crickets and superworms for his staple, and the occasional waxworm, black soldier fly larvae. hornworms are on the way for another staple! I give him a few at a time until I see that he eats them, then i add more.
- Supplements - zoomed calcium without d3 for each feeding for now until he gains some weight and stuff because my vet said he was a bit skinny. rep-cal vitamins planning on twice a month and rep-cal calcium with d3 twice a month!
- Watering - I have a humidifier that I put on for fifteen minutes a few times a day, and I mist him for about two minutes four times a day or so. I have not seen him drink however his eyes aren't sunken and from what I've read on here he does not appear to be dehydrated.
- Fecal Description - Brown and white urate. He has been tested and came back clear.
- History - I bought him from someone off of craigslist who took good care of him, and they said that he came from a breeder.
Cage Info:
- Cage Type - The large reptibreeze screen cage at the moment, but it's going to be upgraded to the extra large sometime next week once all his live plants arrive in the mail.
- Lighting - he has a daylight bulb 40watts and a t8 strip 5.0
- Temperature - his basking temp is about 85-90 depending on where i take the temperature. i use a little handheld laser thermometer.
- Humidity - 50-60% normally
- Plants - not at the moment, but i have a ficus coming from lllreptile and a small tropical plant
- Placement - his cage is located in my bedroom, where there is a dresser blocking his view of my bearded dragon. He is near my bedroom door which is always open during the day. my room is fairly low traffic. only my dad occasionally comes in to check out my lizards since he really likes them too
- Location - central florida
