So, i've wanted a chameleon since the age of 10... finally at 20, I have one. I've cared for reptiles in the past, and even bred snakes. This will be my first time having to worry about cage humidity though!

I've done lots of research, and gotten lots of advice... but i'm always willing to recieve more!

Iambe, is a 3-4 inch veiled right now... had him looked at by a chameleon conniseur, and he's in pretty healthy condition! acts right, eats, has good attitude and all...

Really, i'm just looking for any tips or tricks you'd reccommend for a new guy!

Welcome to the forum - My only advise is to follow the care sheets - If you do that you shouldn't have any problems- He's quite a handsome boy-

Awesome! browing the care sheets now... so much info... Thanks a bunch, and thanks for the compliment! I think he's pretty dang good looking as well!

Thanks! i'll have to take a pic of the whole setup... my girlfriend is an interior designer, and helped me with mroe than half of it :p

He is a cute little guy! Although does he always sleep during the day like that and what's the blue light for?

Someone else commented on this on reddit! It's actually deception... i came home from work at 1am, and he was sleeping... too handsome of a fella, i jsut had to turn my light on and snap a picture. lol

The blue light is a night heat lamp... it's been dropping pretty cold, and we don't run the A/C... it's very dim, and he's been sleeping under his plant anyway.

Welcome to the forum . You might want to ditch the blue light as it is said that most chams sleep better with complete darkness. Chams should take a drop of 10 degrees f during the night in order to slow down their metabolism in order to sleep. They can take a temp drop to around 55f overnight. If it drops that far a ceramic heat emitter on a thermostat is advised as it does not give off any light.':)

Thanks so much... i was so worried abotu the temp dropping below 70, that i was doing whatever i could to keep it at at LEAST 70... but htis really eases the mind :]

Is this chameleon sleeping or is it closing its eyes during the day? My phone may not be displaying properly but if it day time your chameleon should never be sleeping. Are you also sure of the sex? If not post it in identification section. Glad your into chameleons and hope you enjoy the hobby. One more thing... is that chameleon in a terrarium? A large species like a male v will do much better in a full screen larger cage or free range but for right now that will be OK.

It's actually night, i jsut returned home and had to turn the light on... it's definitely a male, has the biggest spurs i've ever seen on something so young :p.... and it is a terrarium.... i have all the vents open for the mean time, but after he does grow, i am definitely planning on switching over to a screened cage!

I appreciate the looking out :]
