Just Got the Ultimate Set Up Kit From Screameleons

I got the same package from Screameleons when I got my first cham (that was 14 months ago) and have never had a problem with it. Its a really good starter package and worry free. My cham was a juvi when I got him so the small cage was great as I could cup feed as well as free range his food. The only thing I had to do was upgrade to a larger cage when my cham was older and put a few live plants in it.

The good thing about this setup is that you dont have to worry about anything being incorrect in it and its a great base to start with.

Vincent raises healthy, strong chams and knows what he is doing and has the customer and chams well being as his main objective.

Hey Everyone,

I just wanted to address the issues that were raised.

1) The Cage Too Small: - Absolutely not true. This is the exact same sized cage we use to house our babies. You cannot raise a baby in an adult cage. Babies cannot hunt efficiently in a large cage. Also, I highly DO NOT RECOMMEND sectioning off a larger cage. I've seen dozens of owners try this with failure. There is just no good way to make a larger cage smaller. Even custom built cages with plastic dividers fail. The problem is your crickets will move to the other side of the separator, and your chameleon will not. There are no "fool-proof" dividers. The result is that your chameleon will not get the food he/she needs during the day. Please don't take short cuts when it comes to housing a baby chameleon properly.

2) The Habba Mister Isn't Sufficient - Absolutely not true. The Mist King systems are awesome. In fact, we use them here for our adult setups. But they are simply overkill for a 20"x"18"x12" enclosure. The problem with juvenile setups is flooding. If your cage stays moist, your chameleon is almost guaranteed to get sick. The high-pressure systems drench the entire cage and cause puddles of water to build up. Many people go through the trouble of building customized drainage solutions, but this is not necessary. The Habba Mister is an entry level system that provides adequate hydration in a JUVENILE SETUP. It also keeps the cage dry enough to keep them healthy.

We back this setup with a 30 DAY HEALTH GUARANTEE. To the best of my knowledge, this is the best guarantee in the world. This is how confident we are in the components selected to raise a juvenile chameleon. We've sold hundreds of these kits, and to date every customer has raised their chameleons to healthy adults.

Please don't take short-cuts when it comes to owning a chameleon. Please don't hesitate to contact us with any more questions regarding our products.

Thanks!

Vincent

Our Ultimate Setup Kit already comes with a light timer!
Get a light timer from either home depot or a pet store (They are way cheaper at home depot!) and set to a 12 hour cycle for the winter. I like 8:00am-8:00pm but your chameleon will adjust to whatever you set it as. :)

Also you probably won't need a humidifier with the habba mist. Set up the enclosure and test run it for a couple of days with all the timers and measure the temps and humidity and that should give you an idea of alterations before your chameleon comes home. This will greatly minimize stress if everything is in basic working order before arrival.

Thanks for the input Vincent. This really puts things in a better light for me. I did think about getting a larger cage and then closing it off, but I did not know that this is not a good thing to do. From hearing everybody's responses and yours, it does look like your system is not only a great price, but very efficient for raising a young chameleon. Once it gets larger, I can always get a larger cage and keep the smaller one for another baby. :) I do not in any way want to skimp or raise a chameleon in the wrong way, so that is why I'm asking all these questions on here and getting input. The 30 day health guarantee is also awesome. Thanks for putting in some words about the system.

I dont get how people get the Habba Mist to work for even one cage? I tried it in my 12 by 12 by 18 exo terra tanks, one, heavily planted(Pygmy Leaf Cham) And one in just a normal planted cage for some of my crested gecko, any tips?

Kwelp68, you have to consider something else

Not to offend my fellow forum members, but the only people who have been critical of the Screameleons Ultimate Setup Kit are new members--whose intentions are good, I'm sure.
Yes, I am also new to the forum, having joined in August.
Having read hundreds, if not several thousand posts here in my quest for knowledge, I think it is most sensible to place far more value on the long-term forum members' opinions, as they are most likely to be the most experienced chameleon keepers here.
Having said that, I have never dealt with Screameleons--though many here have and have apparently been quite pleased---but I would not hesitate to, if I was interested in a new chameleon.
Aside from all of the praise that I have read for Screameleons, I like the fact that Vincent actually took the time to post videos online, to show people how to properly handle chameleons.
Looking at his ad for the setup, he makes sure that you receive the cage, etc. first, so that it can be fully set-up before your chameleon is sent to you.
IMHO, that shows a chameleon breeder who not only is knowledgeable, but who actually cares about chameleons.
To me, that is a difference that makes me want to deal with him, should I ever decide to acquire another chameleon.
Whatever you decide, don't forget to buy a nice plant and a vine or two for your new little cham.
There have been numerous posts as to which plants are safe--not all are--and you should thoroughly wash the leaves to remove possible pesticide residues before using it.
Use the "Search" button for more posts, but here's one: https://www.chameleonforums.com/plants/index.php?browse=scientific&view=photo&order=compatible
The only other question that I didn't see answered in this thread is this one:
Where would the best place to place her in the house be?
You want her to be in an area where no one goes for much of the day and where there will be no other pets running loose or within view to harass/scare her.
You also want to elevate her cage above the floor. Chameleons, being tree-dwellers, don't like to be at ground level--it stresses them.

Here's an older post by Screameleons regarding the Habbamister:

Q. How do I prevent neighboring items from getting wet?

A. The Misting System can be tweaked by adjusting two nozzles. Follow the below steps.

1. On the unit, you'll find a star-shaped screw. Turn this counter-clockwise as much as you can without the screw falling out. This will turn the output pressure to the max.

2. On the remote nozzle, turn it clock-wise until you get a very fine mist/spray. The tighter you turn it, the finer it will be.

3. Go back to the star-shaped screw and begin turning this clockwise to lower the output pressure. You should start to see the range of mist/spray decrease. Turn it in just enough so that the mist stays inside the cage. A little overspray is normal. And that's it.

Q. How do I drain the cage of water?

A. If you find that you need to drain the cage, chances are you are over-watering. When a misting system is setup properly, there is no need for drainage. Especially with panther chameleons. Start by setting the mister to off every 3 HOURS for 30 seconds. If the cage dries out to fast, then bump up the duration to 45 seconds. The only thing you'll need at the bottom of the cage is a plain paper towel.

Was this information helpful? Just give us a call if you need more assistance on getting the settings right.

Thanks again!

Thank you so much for all the input everyone. I decided to go with the Screameleons set up after all. I calculated the cost of all the items from other places, and Screameleons has a great price for the setup. Also, if I need a larger cage in the future, that should be easy to do. I'm sure I'll use the small one for more, lol! All in all, I think it's a great deal, and I wish I hadn't canceled the order in the first place.

Thanks for the help Vincent! And thank you everyone else. :)

I also just bought the complete kit from Screameleons...and I am a 2nd time Cham owner. This had all the parts in the kit, easy to use...and I priced out EVERYTHING in Petco and it came out to be more. Petco also didnt have the right sized Reptisun 5.0 bulbs for the fixture. In any case, Dont badmouth a starter kit...its created for Juvies and most the components will transfer over to an adult cage.

+1 for screameleons...now I just need my Kit so I can order my TRUE BLUE!
