This little guy was here to greet me this morning- climbing up from where I know a clutch of four eggs was laid- couldn't believe how small he is - I have 2 others now 3 weeks old and you quickly forget how small they start off.

This picture was in a thread of mine the other day but had to include for comparison, this hatched 3 weeks ago.

To continue the theme of last thread- chameleons, pencils and frogs - This Dendrobates leucomelas dart frog has been looking down this brom for ages- I don't think there's a tadpole in there but she's certainly a nice female.

Thanks - They are super cute- wish they were easier to spot so I knew how many I have- searching for a 20 mm long camoflaged leaf shaped chameleon amongst a viv of leaves isn't easy. I think I have 4 now but will have to wait for them to grow

These pigmy pencil drawings look so realistic

I love these pigmy's, how do you keep them?

:ROFLMAO::D:LOL: that's very funny- Hadn't thought of it like that! lol
I have them in a bioactive 3ft long-2ft high exoterra, 4" soil, hydro balls underneath membrane- live plants, lots of twigs etc, 6% uv- and 20w heat lamp but to be honest summer temps I don't put it on - fairly simple set up but nice to plant up and see the plants growing well. These are on fruit flies at the mo.
I've changed it a bit since this photo but you get the idea,

Do they require a temperature drop like Jacksonii or would lights off be enough?
I would want a nicely planted tank like that in my living room after my ackies 'move out' but I can't cool that down so easy.

Mine are in my reptile shed and with the aid of heaters, fans windows and doors open or shut I try to get it at 24 c during the day and 16-18 at night and I believe that's pretty o.k for pygs, lights off at night get the temps right. I have seen them bask a little but in this weather I think they'd get a little too warm- over 26 is not good at all.:)

Don't think I can provide a cooldown during the night like that in the summer...:(
It's already difficult enough to cool a small room for my Jackson's... I will definately buy an AC voor next year.

I don't always get that temp that low- the shed, unless heated, is whatever the night temps are here, we've seen a few nights were it's been warmer but nothing too high. :)

No. I cannot deal with that much squee in one post. Your 3wo pyg is so perfect, he looks fake!
:D

Thanks Bucky's mummy:), he is too perfect isn't he, just after I took that picture I went in to find him coughing on something he had eaten, scared me to death but thought I cant extract whatever it is out of a mouth 2 mm wide, anyway he was o.k the next day but it did shock

It was a lot of work but it's great, I swore with the exception of my house chameleon everyone would live in the shed, no more in the house. Umm?
That's true if you ignore giant snails, stick insects, silkworms, a chameleolis, a xanth and probably quite a lot more very soon.
The shed is 12x8ft and is a great place to have. You've gotta get one (y)

Well I would probably need a smaller one... But I may get my wife to agree if I that means no more insects and reptiles in the house.
For my Jacksonii it would be great and easy to accomplish the cold nights without having to buy an airco... Give it a nice sunroof and it's a perfect place for him.
Our back yard isn't that big tho so it may need to be a miniature shed. :p

Oh lol... I thought I'd ask the wife for fun if I could have a shed...
Told her if I could have a shed if that meant no more chameleons and feeders in the house and she actually said 'OK' ...
She did also say that I would have to take on the rest of the backyard first...

Guess I have to save up a lot of money to tidy up the backyard..
