Just have a couple questions

Hey guys! New to the group, excited to be a member. Every time I Google a question about my girl it has always brought me an answer with this group. I have 2 veiled chameleons male and female. They're both happy and healthy, and I'm always searching and reading up on information to better their enclosures. My girl is about 6 months and is always a lovely calm green color and has an amazing appetite. I've heard females can start laying anywhere from 4-6 months, so I have a lay bin set up even tho she has shown no signs of Needing one. Just wondering if this is something I should be doing or should I wait until she gives hints. She seems to not mind it and every now and then she'll go down to the bottom of the trees ( I planted them in 5 gallon bucket and am using play sand/ top soil mixture, it seems to hold a really good tunnel) to get some crickets, but never directly into the soil. So no signs of interest really, but just wondering if I should keep it in there or take it out. Thanks for the help

I would keep it in. Definitely better safe than sorry. With my lay bins, I spray them with water about once a week to be sure they are still good to go. I am sure others have other regimens that work for them. I just like to be sure that the sand/soil mixture in mine stays easy for them to dig. Find what works for you, your humidity and temp, etc.

Definitely separately. They've never seen each other. He's a little guy about 3 months now. We bought her a couple months before we bought him.

Hi and welcome. :) Your girl will become receptive before laying. All of her colors will appear and she’ll become restless. I always think of it as they get all prettied up and go looking for a man. This will last for about a couple of weeks. With one of my girl’s first clutches, she laid just about a few weeks after being receptive. Her 2nd time though it took over 3 months. My other girl’s first clutch also didn’t happen until after 3 months from her receptive phase. I keep their lay bins in permanently so it’s there when they need it and I don’t have to guess. Hone this helps.
