so I finally added an egg laying bin to my chameleons enclosure and used plain play sand? is it okae just to use sand and how do I maintain it? do I have to keep it moist by misting it or should I just leave it alone? this is my first chameleon so just curious? I also finally added my umbrella tree nd some pothos plants? any input and advice is greatly appreciated.

I use just play sand but some keepers use dirt and some use a mixture of the two. I say use what your female likes. Every 10 days or so I add water and stir with a big wooden spoon but I don't use cages so there's no misting around my bin. You will want to check it every 10 days or so to make sure it's the correct moisture to hold a tunnel and not collapse on your female. I use a tablespoon and dig a slanted tunnel all the way to the bottom and often my girls will use the tunnel I dig with their own modifications of course. If you can move the laying bin to the back of the enclosure for more privacy and wrap the branch leading down to the bin with some vine with leaves or maybe have a plant that drapes over the bin for privacy. Here's a few links that you might find helpful.

Wow thank u for those links very imformative. And i will rearrange my cage , did not think about the whole privacy thing wen i put her bin in, also i dnt think shes ready to leg eggs because shes only eight months old from what i know but its better to be prepared than not. Plus looks like ill be investing in a scale, had no idea how closely you have to monitor their weight. Thank you so much for the feed back..
