His feet and nails are looking a bit odd. Part of his nail has a bit of gray on it, and his feet are looking brownish.

i think that is normal my veild chameleon has the same thing and when i brang her to the vet for a check up they didnt say anything about it so i think it normal.

That is totally normal and most veileds have it. If he were a low end translucent veiled, the gray would be see through pink and you could see his veins through it.

Glad to know, thanks. I was just curious because lately he has been venturing to the top of the cage for a stroll and I was scared I might have to move the light away further, didn't know if it was a burn or not.

I've heard that when a cham goes batlike (walks upside-down on the cage ceiling) that it can be a sign of stress. My cham has been doing it lately, and when I go to take him out he'll head straight for the ceiling. Is this stress or just natural cham behaviour?

my male yeman chams feet are like that but i would like to know about the celling thing too as mine does that alot but i didnt think it would really be a issue

What kind of cages do you guys have? Mine is an old rabbit cage I fixed up a bit, so it's easy for him to go around the top to get higher.

Maybe it's too cold in your cages?

i have a 100 gallon flexarium so he can walk whereever he wishes usein the walls to climb n his tembs seem to be fine i just wondered if it was due to stress that chams do this as he's only been livin in his new home for about 2 months

HArd to tell - veleds feet are sometimes a different color. However, it does look like it could be unshed skin. That could be a problem in the near term. The solution is a risk-free treatment, so I say do it just in case. My WC veiled had some unshed skin layers, and it caused swelling and sore feet - and eventually could cause the loss of some toes.

Put some mineral oil on the gray areas. Let it soak in for a while, add some more. Let it sit an hour or so and try to peel it back - scrape it with your fingernails first. IF it starts to come off, use tweezers. Multiple layers build up and form thick pieces that need to be removed.

Eric - I will do that - any brand to suggest? I will go to WalMart and see if they have it later.

any is fine. if you have none, regular skin moistuerizers work ok as well, but the mineral oil penetrates the dead skin better.

Thanks! I will try this just in case. Better safe than sorry.

How long/often should I do this for? For a couple hours a couple times a day for how long?

Put some on, let it sit a few seconds, put on some more - make sure it's soaked in. Let it sit a few minutes, maybe 30 min or an hour, then mess with it. Should there be any skin left over from past sheds, it should come off easily.
