Juvenile chams' eating habits

Hey guys,

I've read that juvenile and recently purchased chameleons' eating habits can be pretty irregular. As is my chams case, I've decided to enquire about it.

He's Ernesto. He's a male veiled, 4 months, measures 18cm (7 3⁄32in) and weighs 20g (0,71oz). I know that the caresheet tells me to feed him 10-12 small crickets daily, but, I don't know about you guys, I can't be picky about the size of the crickets I purchase.

So this is Ernesto's diet:
- On the 1st day, he didn't eat (the vet I purchased him from said it was ok, sometimes juveniles don't eat for some days and I shouldn't worry about it);
- On the 2nd day, he ate one medium cricket;
- On the 3rd day, he ate one small and one medium cricket (I felt proud, but still nothing compared to the 10-12 small crickets);
- On the 4th day, he didn't eat again;
- Today, he ate a massive *holy mother of god* cricket, chomped it to pieces and that was it.

Am I doing a bad job? I don't have access to small crickets only. What should I expect him eating? Is this normal? Should he eat more? Should he eat less? Does it even matter as long as he's young and not losing weight?

Btw all crickets were previously gutloaded with watercress and apple. They didn't even touch the sun-flower seeds. I also powdered them with calcium, once with D3, the other times without.

Thanks!
