Juvie / Sub Adult Veiled Purchase: Questions

Hello all,

I've done a little more research and have decided that a juvie / sub adult veiled might be the best choice for my first cham. I think that I would feel more comfortable starting with a slightly older / larger specimen vs. getting a younger animal and have had multiple people tell me that starting with a veiled would be a better option vs. investing in a more sensitive, younger panther.

That said, there don't appear to be many options or much information about buying a veiled this size/age. With that in mind, I had 3 questions for all of you.

1. What age and size (grams / length s-v) would you say the average "juvie" and "sub adult" veiled is? (the sites I have found don't give very good descriptions).

2. Are there any particular lines that I should look for that have better color or conformation / size?

3. The only two sites I have found selling animals in this age range are FL Chams and veiledchameleon.com If anyone has purchased one of their chams, I would love your thoughts on color and size of the chameleon you purchased (size / age)? Their sites do not give much info or pictures of adults, so if you also have any pictures showing how their lines mature, that would be great also.

Thank you for your time and help!

Got my male Veiled from FLChams.com. Bought a 3-4 month old from the Driskel bloodline. He is now around the 7 month old mark and havent had any issues with him. Here is a photo from a week or so ago. As of last week he is weighing in at 96 grams which I believe is a good weight for a 6-7 month old.

Best advice I can give is to make sure the enclosure is set up a few days before the cham arrives. Don't cut corners when it comes to supplies and equipment either.

Have you read through the caresheet and articles on these forums? https://www.chameleonforums.com/care/caresheets/veiled/
Lots of great info to make sure your husbandry is on point for a healthy cham.

Graves- Thank you for your reply and the photo of your boy.

I am planning on having everything set up and running for at least a couple weeks before ordering, so that I can monitor temps and humidity.

Do you remember about what size your boy was when you got him? (length or weight)? I have never seen ~3 month old chams before, so am not sure what to expect.

Thank you again for your help!
