Kammerflage kreations forever cage

Was thinking about getting the forever cage from kammerflage wanted to see what people thought or if anybody has one or used one

It depends on the species and age of your chameleon. Most people on the forums will tell you that the Forever cage is not adequate in size for an adult panther chameleon but would be fine for a younger chameleon that is not full grown. However I believe this is the size cage that the Kammers use for their adult animals and they clearly have healthy animals. I do use the Forever cage for our adult panther and I have mixed feelings. I am not sure how much of my mixed feelings come from the fact that most forum members would look down on me for it. The advantage of the Kammer cages in general for panther chameleons is that Ed has found panthers to use the lateral space a lot more than vertical space. I only have experience with one panther chameleon, but I have found this to be the case. My panther moves left and right across the cage regularly, but rarely ever goes lower than the upper half of the cage. That said, I sometimes feel bad that because of this he does not have very much space to roam. Conversely, I find my panther is not super active and will spend large chunks of the day in one spot. This makes me wonder if he would use the space of a larger cage or not.

I guess my advice to you is, if you can afford it, and have the space, go for the larger Panther Palace. It is something we've been considering for a long time and I think would give me peace of mind. If you start off with the larger cage you will not ever have to wonder if you are giving your chameleon enough space. If you go smaller, I do believe it is adequate, but it may leave you wondering if you could be doing better for your chameleon.

Sorry for the long reply. I hope it is helpful.

By the way, I should mention the quality. I really like the cage as far as build. All of their cages are well made and seem to hold up.

I was looking at getting the panther palace, I believe it's a bit bigger.... If it was 48 inches tall, I could have bought it in a heartbeat.

Thanks so much werecat im torn between the 2 cages the forever and the panther palace just not sure what to do ive never known a chameleon cage to be wide always thought it had to be tall. But from what ed has said like u said they use the lateral space i just dont want to invest in something and it be wrong and everyone bash me for not a good setup. Rite now im using an 18x18x36 cage but am going to upgrade soon and i heard so much about the kammer cages plus my baby is a kammer baby :) 5 months today!! The one thing that i did like about his cages is the drip easy system!! Have u had any expierence with tha?

The Kammer cages are very nice and I think if you went with one you would not be disappointed. If you are already using an 18x18x36 cage, the Forever cage will really not provide more space (it is actually smaller per square inch than the cage you currently have), so if space is what you want, go with the larger Panther Palace (or a standard 24x24x48. If you are not concerned about more space, but simply want a wider cage, go with the Forever. I would not worry about other members bashing you. Clearly you are doing your research and what you decide is ultimately best for you and your situation. Yes, vertical space is important to chameleons. You would probably not want a cage that is wider than it is tall, but I think that the "vertical space is the most important thing" mantra is not always correct. Panthers (and probably other species) defiantly benefit from lateral movement as I have seen. As long as your cage provides a decent amount of vertical space it is ok for it to be wider than the norm. One reason for vertical space is to provide areas of cooler temperature that your chameleon can retreat to when it is too hot. The Kammer cages will still provide enough vertical space to do this, but a cage like the Palace, that is wider will also provide these cooler areas along the width; you will be able to have one side of the cage warmer and the other side of the cage cooler.

I will eventually upgrade to the Palace because I really like what it offers, but while you are trying to decide, think about the following:
1. What do you have space for in your home?
2. Do you want to provide your chameleon with the most space you possibly can?
3. What cage can you afford? The Palace is not cheap and the standard 24x24x48 is typically more affordable.
4. Do you plan on keeping more than one or two chameleons in the future? People who keep several chams typically go for the taller 24x24x48 cages as they are more space efficient when setting up a row of cages along a wall. If you are only keeping one cham, a wider cage is nicer for display of the animal.

Regarding the Easy Drip system, I do not have this, but I thought it was really cool when Ed showed it to me. It won't work for my current setup because I do not hang my plants and the pots would be too heavy for the screen bottom to support. I may consider it though when I upgrade my cage.

Werecat how do u keep water from puddling on the bottom of the cage that white pvc thing! Thats the only reason i would do the drip easy sytem if so can u post a picture of ur cureent setup for me!

We have a 1/2" hole drilled in the pvc bottom. The cage sits on a frame that we built and the weight of the plant bows the bottom so the water drains through the hole and into a catch pan below. If you search "drainage" on the forums you will get a lot of other ideas. Here are a couple of pictures of our latest cage build before we put Egon back in (before and after the lights came on). Sorry I don't have many good cage pictures.

Personally I think we need a larger drainage hole and more weight to bow the bottom. Sometimes we still get a little water pooling, but it usually evaporates and it never overflows out of the cage. I will definitely consider the Easy Drip system for the future, but I have to figure out the best way to hang my plants.

Thanks so much for the pictures!! Briana from kammerflage also said i can take the pvc bottom and drill a bunch of small drain holes in it as well!!

I also see werecat that u have branches in ur cage going across how are u able to get those to hold up and does it do a pretty good job and were did u get the branches? Thanks so much!!

I use push pins stuck into the branches from the outside of the cage. This is what I think most people do and it works well. Been thinking of trying rare earth magnets. To do that I would drill a stainless steel or other magnetic screw into each end of the branch then snap a rare earth magnet to the outside of the cage. Should hold. Chameleons are light! Some people don't even secure with anything. They just wedge a slightly oversized branch into place.

Got the branches from Kammers. I do not have the time to collect and clean branches myself but you can use any branch that is nontoxic and not sprayed with chemicals. Most people have some method for cleaning or sterilizing their found branches. Kammers branches are already cleaned. I live in LA and am thinking of getting sandblasted manzanita from the downtown flower market. It's very cheap there.
