Keeping veilds together? (gulp!)

Hi, this will open a can of worms but...
I have been keeping chams for a while 2 ambanja's and 3 yemen's. I have just recieved a female as a breeding partner to my male yemen and set up a new mesh viv for her. I showed them to each other and they both looked interested! so I put them together and it all happened. I monitored them for a day checking for any fighting etc.. but nothing they just sit next each other seemingly enjoying each others company. The cage is a flexarium 100 with lots of space and branches to get away from each other but they dont. I also observed the female following the male and visa versa so hes not just hounding her. They have been together for about a week now and they seem fine, it even seems to have calmed my usually bad tempered male down. I have seen none of the usual hissing, gaping, displaying or turning black that happens when my others see each other. So do you think they are ok to stay together?
Please elaborate on the usual no they shouldnt cos it stresses them cos in this case it doesnt seem to be. Any simlar experiences?
Thanks

I would have to say that stress is not always as obvioously apparent as we think it is with the Chams. Just having another lizard around in their space contantly will definatley add stress IMO, even if it is subtle. These are solitary animals in the wild. Stress is not the only reason this is a no-no. Breeding takes a huge toll on a female. You want to be able to monitor and control when they mate to make sure your female is not being over taxed. You can literally take Years off of an already short life span by overbreeding your females. Also keeping them seperate will lead to your male being more willing to do the deed when the time comes.

I am curios if the mating took... After a successfull mating I will observe my female always acting very standoffish and advertising Gravid behavior. Maybe seperate them... wait a day or two, and see what happens when you reintroduce them. If she is Prego it is even more important to get her her own space. I treat my gravid girls like delicate flowers that need to be spoiled in every way, and must never become stressed. :)

Hi Joe
Thanks for the reply to be honest she hasnt shown any gravid colours as yet and i havent seen them at it since the first day! They look quite happy together at the mo, obviously im closely monitoring them. As soon as and colours are shown ill seperate them. Im just quite interested in observing at the moment. I have noticed they like to be both on the same same side of a dense plant so they CAN see each other, not hiding like my panthers do (when cleaning they go on a tree together).
