Kenyan Sand Boas?!

i suddenly got into these guys! perfect for me! and perfect for my mom
i mean when she sees some snake or bug she jumps around and says her hairs are creeping up and also that she feels all itchy
but anyways, i like these bad boys, small and good looking, but the main word is not that long, perfectly short..

i was wondering if anyone here know how to take care of these boas?!
and also i was wondering, i really dont want to use aspen, cause i think they r kinda dull and boring, but i wanna use this sand that is for sale at the hardware store i think its organic sand(not soil, but sand, it looks like beach sand).. i use this sand currently for 2 years on my tortoises and has no effects on em ... anyways i buy this from Osh harware store.. so any help would be gr8!

I have a snow KSB from SGR and his pretty cool. Like you, I didn't want to use aspen at first. I mean they're called sand boas. They don't actually live in sandy areas, well except for the Egytpian sand boas. Back on topic, after a year of using sand, I switched to aspen. The sand gets really dusty and messy at times. It's harder to clean their cage/terranium and you have to be careful whether they can ingest the sand. The food will get sand on them whether they're dead or alive so you have to check on that. Ask around kingsnake.com. Also how old are your sand boas? I orignally had 3 KSBs and I only have one left. When they're young they can be really picky eaters. My remaining KSB hasn't eaten in over 9 months. I can keeeping wasting feeders, live and dead. It gets annoying and I'm always wondering if he's going to die soon or not. I also have a Western Sand Boa from petco. He's a better feeder than my KSB.

Aww...memories..my first snake was a kenyan sand boa. I was only a Freshman in highschool and was new to the herp world. I kept mine on calci-sand I believe...if I remember correctly it was glow in the dark (does anyone remember that stuff??) So I am defiantly not the person to ask assuming that I probably didn't even know what I was doing. My mom eventually made me keep it at school. had a teacher that had a herp club with over 200 reptiles in his classroom and my poor little guy ended up getting stolen...but that was 9 years ago..I miss him I named him Who...so when people asked what his name is I would say who...and they would say the sanke...you get the drift...lol. But if you get the little guy have fun with him...I like the anery ones...they are cool!

hmm, i think more about the aspen vs. sand deal, but now your kidna making me lean to aspen, but idk yet thnx for the info, and by the way, i dont have any sand boas yet, but thinking of getting em they are just so cool you know?!

ya im a freshmen in H.S. too its awesome now, new beginning in life, then COLLEGE! aehehehehe, well thats cool to know ur first was a sand boa, maybe my first snake would be a sand boa also
