Kinda Lame....

that my photo was removed, without my knowledge! It was properly scaled to fit in with the guidelines and was most definitely was not altered in any way. Why would this happen?

It is lame.... that we still get a thread like this every month. You didn't make the cut. Better luck next time.

You have to remember that every month we get new members that don't understand how it works.

everyone is allowed to submit, only the best photos will go on to be into the 2nd stage of the photo contest.

at that point members may give a vote, along with the final decisions of the judges determines who wins.

the votes by members do not always dictate the winner, only help assist the judges final decisions.

For this exact reason it makes me think there should be criteria on how long you have been a member, before entering the contests. Don't get me wrong... I was in the posters shoes before as well, posting the same thing. Just maybe its time to do something with the contest to alleviate this. I mean if it is giving me a headache now I can't imagine being the one to coordinate this contest. I wonder how many PMs Brad has to answer about this every month.

there just needs to be a stickied thread explaining the process.

Not really people just need to use the search button :D

My submission have missed 3 contest no biggy! As you can see there was 5 pages of submissions Brad only allows 10-15 and the judges pick which 10-15 make it. So try again next month.

i think that he removed some really good pictures that people put in, and left in someones that dont look anywhere near as nice.

i honestly have no clue what criteria he uses himself

Why would he use any criteria accept for what was posted in the contest rules section. Keep in mind he can't keep everyone happy, and that with this process good pics will get cut, I had several cut before. He runs this contest with this system, we need to become familiar with it, or choose not to play.

Image Format
1. File size: Photos must be less than 2MB.
2. Image dimensions: Large photos are preferred. The largest side must be at least 800 pixels. The size ratio (smaller side / larger side) must be >= .65.
3. Accepted image extensions: gif, jpg, png

Image Content

Contest System:
There are currently four phases of the contest: photo submission, entry reduction, member voting, and private ranking by judges.

1. Photo Submission
There is a photo contest category located within the gallery. Submit your contest entries into this category. A minimum of ten eligible photos are required before the photo entry phase ends.

2. Entry Reduction
This phase includes the reduction of entries to a total count of ten photos. Currently, the site administrator chooses, without bias, their favorite ten photos according to specific criteria.

3. Member Voting
All members may vote on their favorite photo. One vote per person per contest.

4. Private Judge Ranking
Private ranking by a few judges appointed by the administrator. This phase helps to prevent different forms of abuse.

edit: Sorry, woke up kinda cranky. Go ahead and Vent...I'm gonna make some coffee.

I know what your talking about but some of the really nice photos were doctored and photoshopped which is agianst the rules

The fact that I did not make the cut just gives me more motovation to come up with an even better shot for next month. I will win one of those contest one day!;) Point is not to give up, use the cut to your advantage.:)

I just saw the contest..and I think there are way too mnany veiled this month.. My Jacksons was cut when it was an awesome pic and now there isnt a large variety/species wise to select from.. Im wondering if mine got cut because I no longer wont he Jackson that was pictured.. Even though I still have other critters than could benefit from the GC. Is it against rules to post pics of animals that you took the picture of but may no longer own? I guess Karma was able to go through last month and he passed on.. Same concept?

Frankly,I dont really care anymore. ive entered 4 times, only had one make it which was the only pygmy shot Ive seen in awhile and still didnt even get in the top 3..Shrug..

Theirs always hard feelings when it comes to these contest that's why it shouldn't be that important to you. Who knows what goes on behind the scene who makes the cut who doesn't who cares.

just be glad, that you have these amazing animals and these terrific pictures.

yes, they all don't make the cut. but you should not allow it to stop you from entering.

and yes betty, you must still own teh animal in order to enter...
