I got my 1 month old over a week ago he had never been handled or let out of his enclosure.
Since I have had him I have tried to keep out his way and let him settle only entering the enclosure for misting ,feeding ,watering plants ect.
Today i set out on my usual daily task and went to feed him he approached with caution and climed onto my hand he then darted up my arm onto my shoulder out of his enclosure I spoke to him for a minute ( silly i know) and gently put him back in his enclosure.
Feeling rather bemused I carried on with the day...I entered again tonight to remove what he hadnt eaten and to mist again and low and behold he ran down his vine onto my hand and straight up my shoulder again.:eek:
so yes now I am in a state of shock..whats ment to be an unsocial animal has came to me and then allowed me to take him away from his enclosure..I sat with him for 5 minutes petrified he would fall and hurt himself as he ran all over me then returned him to his tank.
I think I am still in a state of shock i knew if I hand fed him he would learn to trust me...but I dont hand feed him I dont even touch his live food by hand ..big fearty I am lol.
has anyone else experiance this?
surely gaining trust cant be that easy or quick?

oh yes he started shedding about 2 hours ago so I have upped his mistings to make it as easy as poss!

Thats so great! All chams are different... Some people think they're all instinct but I feel they all have completely different personalities. You got lucky, most do seem to be anti-social especially when they first arrive. You should definitely try hand feeding, It's been months and I still yelp when a cricket jumps on me haha. Worms are okay to hold, maybe try that? Its a good bonding experience :)

i have to say i cant even put the crickets in i am at the other side of the room whenmy partner puts them in his cup and sits a lid on top. i then transfere the cup to kyros enclosure and remove lid when its safe lol I am a nightmare i think i tried the worms once got a bit much after a second lol but i will stick at it to see if i can get over my really silly and imature fear i really want to bond with kyro.
do you think i should stick at letting him out as long as he doesnt get stressed i dont want to do something he doesnt want to do...i have to admit i got all excited when he got on my hand

I spoke to him for a minute ( silly i know)

I don't think it's silly, I do it as well.

Chams seem to have their own personalities no matter what you do, some just refuse to be handled in any way, some don't need any "training" or bribed to be touched they just like us and there are many in between. Seems like you got lucky and got the second group :p
