laying bin

I got a 12x12x14 container and some washed playsand and organic dirt. The dirt has some sticklike stuff in it, is it still okay to be put in the laying bin?

I want to answer you but I don't know about the sticks! Why not just use washed play sand alone and then you don't have to worry about the sticks?. I know other people on here and that is what they use, just the sand. You have to make sure she can make a tunnel to lay the eggs. that is the important part and the depth has to be deep enough.

I'm always concerned if I got the right potting soil so I've been using washed playsand mixed with vermiculite. So far my girl has layed three clutches with no problem.

I would really call them sticks persay, kinda like dirt with a little bit mulchy consistency. I was going to mix a little bit of that with the sand

If it's not really "sticks" that are hard and pointy, then I suspect it will be okay. I know people who just use playsand though so that might be the safer option if you are concerned.
