I have a 5 month old female panther chameleon. As she is approaching 6 months I'm getting ready to set up my first laying box. I have a dragon stand cage and have seen that they sell their own laying box on their website. I was wondering if anyone has purchased and used it before? If so I'd love to hear why you did or did not like it.

I just used a regular planting pot make sure it's at least like 14-15 inches tall they like to dig a pretty deep tunnel and will dig a few different ones usually I used just plain Jane top soil with nothing in it and a fine grain sand mix them really well and have it moist enough where it won't collapse if she is diging I also put a plant in there to just something cheap my likes to lay under roots for some reason.... That's from my experience I've been through 3 clutches so far with her all about 30-35 eggs

Another note to I leave it in there full time because some times she digs for the hell of it I just change the soil out in between cleanings for mold and funkyness
I have purchased a lay box from Bill at Dragon Strand that fits perfect with the same cage from Bill as well.
It works great, leakproof, and deep enough to do its job. I ighly recommend it. She has all the space she needs to dig test holes or just settle on first hole, either way, she has full cage size foot print to dig vs. a pot

Good to hear! I love their cages and was hoping to hear good things about the laying box. Last question though, do you always have the laying box in your females enclosure or do you only add it when you think your female is ready to lay? The only reason I ask is because it takes up the entire floor of the enclosure and seems like it would be a lot of work to constantly put it in and out of the cage.

You're wasting your money on a namebrand ..... When you could put that money and a lot better places
How wide of a potter plant do you use? I'd love to see a picture if you have one
I currently have the cage sitting ON TOP of the lay bin. The cage has the panel as floor base and lay bin is NOT accessible. When the time come, I simply remove the floor panel to expose lay in and throw a few sticks/branch so that she can get to the soil/sand.
This also helps to reduce stress for her when the time is near to lay her eggs. Besides, there is no way I'm going to move 40 pounds of sand/soil around each time that I need to for space, etc
