learning slowly

I learned 2 things today 1. Superworms can bite, and latch on, and sometimes will not let go (what a turd). and the second, Uhura is less afraid of my hand than she is my feeder tongs. She will puff a little if I offer it with my hand but she will full on flare if I approach her with tongs. Anyone have any experience with this?

I've tried using tongs before but had the same exact results. I figured Hawk would rather go with the tongs at first and then work my way to hand feeding, but I guess not :p. Now I just hand feed or let the feeders roam.

yes! and thank you!

Ive never used tongs, but I dont handle the supers at all!:p

I use a little glass dish to offer them;)

Is this because of the biting? luckily enough I have enough I have enough callouses on my hands that I didn't realize what it was doing until I tried to pull him off and he was attached to my hand at the mouth.

I'm just using little metal tweezers and she tweaks. Geordi responds really well to them, it's so strange.

Yeah that's what I use is small tweezers; he doesn't approve at all and reprimands me if I even get them in his view. Guess some of them just see tweezers/tongs as some kind of threat

I dont like the way they look. Ive never been bitten by one, and I have handled them, I just dont like to;) So if I have to "hold" one for any length of time, it goes in the little superworm bowl:)

It's so weird I thought she didn't like me but now I know that its the tweezers I feel a lot better. :D She wants to eat it but shes skeptical of my intentions.

I was just letting it crawl on my hand. It was my first time handling. I've been so afraid of them but today was my breakthrough. Look where that got me. :p they are sooooo mean. I got Geordi some him sized ones and he only ate one and it bit him! he hasn't gone for them since. I think that I'm going to get some nude tone gloves so that we can do this without the biting.

Don't know if it's weird but I either squish the heads or take them off completely.
I'm afraid they'll eat my little ones insides!!!
