Life after Baytril...when does appetite return?

I still have another week left of a Baytril regiment for my Ambilobe Panther (4 months old) who is being treated for a respiratory infection. He eats a few dubia each day and a wax worm or two. He is doing much better. I am curious as to how long after Bayrtil before his appetite returns. What have you observed? I know each cham is different.

Disclaimer: No need to ask husbandry questions in depth. My Vet is an exotic veterinarian working with the local reptile rescue sanctuary, and worked with the local serpentarium before it closed. She is aware of my husbandry parameters as is my chameleon mentor. According to them, my parameters are on point...but we have made a few slight adjustments. I would like the conversation to be focused on Baytril and appetite.

Thanks in advance for your observations and feedback.

I’m sorry to hear about your little guy having an RI. My vet does not use Baytril on chameleons. He is a reptile specialist and the author of the books that other vets use that try to work on chameleons.

I’ve been keeping chameleons for about 15 years now and I’ve had to use antibiotics many time but never had a chameleon lose their appetite due to an antibiotic. You said he’s eating dubia and wax worms so that sounds like a really good sign. Be sure to keep him well hydrated. Antibiotics can be harsh on their kidneys. How many weeks does your cham have to take Baytril? I hope your little man has a full recovery.

Thanks for your response. It is a 21 day regiment....one time per day. He was really bad when I brought him in, and not eating 2 weeks ago.
