yes he had been sick. recently sores appeared on his mouth and turned a brownish color.

So what kind of life span should we expect out of a jackson? I have one and would like to know.

like duke said i think it is around 3-5 years. i had mine for about 4 years.

in all honesty wouldn't suprise me if you could push it to about 7 years. but thats with perfect conditions.
4 1/2 doesn't seem like a bad amount of time, its unfortunate and maybe if he had gotton some treatment you could have gotten some more time out of him.
but perhaps it was just his time to go.

Probably could be extended closer to 8-10 if conditions were right. That means cool, bordering on cold nights, lower daytime temps, etc. They can live in warm climates, but I'm sure it shortens their lifespan considerably.

Very sorry for your loss. They are one of my favorite species.
I've also heard various numbers for the lifespan of Jacksonii. I bet it's one of those things where 3-5 is average, but every now and then one lives to be 9 or 10.

when my cham was sick, i brought him to the herp vet at the audobon zoo. and i know there are a few herp vets in mandiville. www.herpvetconnection.com

Most sources say 5 years, but I have found at least one report of 9 years for a female Jackson.
