Lightbulb problem?

I have both my bulbs on a timer and this is the third time the lights have come on and the basking light has blown out. The other bulb (on the same dual head dome) has never had this problem. The first time I bought the same exact bulb again and it blew out, the second time I tried a different brand and it also stopped working. Has anybody had this problem?

Currently I have a regular house bulb on it until I figure it out. Thank you!

I'm a little confused. So the household bulb you have in it now IS working? Is it the same watt, draw, amp as your previous bulb that did work? You put both these bulbs (that eventually blew) in the same socket on your dual fixture right? Did you try a new bulb in the other socket to see if it blows out? The fixture socket may be your problem not the bulbs. As already mentioned, you don't need to use a specialty herp basking bulb for heat.
