When people that cry for these changes to make things "greener" stop drivng their giant SUV's I'll be apt to take them seriously. Not to mention th CF design contains higher levels of mercury than an ordinary bulb. Kind of like how the electric car is so much better for the environment. Hmmmmm, I wonder what will end up happening to all those giant batteries used to run them cars. Oh and I wonder how the main producer of lithium batteryes feels about proctecting the environment when they are just barely pulling themselves up from 3rd world nation status, (China).

Right...being "green" is more than one little action. What many Americans seem to think is necessary for a decent life is pretty disusting. The trophy home, the SUV capable of scaling Pike's Peak just to go get a pizza, new cars every few years, convenience and vanity products, constantly running electronics, a shopping mall on every block selling the same sh*&% no one needs, fashion-dictated clothing, unnecessary travel, this sense that everyone deserves "luxury", don't get me started.

At least lithium batteries are easier to deal with when they do get tossed. No heavy metals to handle. Do I want an electric car instead of something that burns a fossil fuel? Sure, but I'll wait until the need for gas ends and the battery technology improves. The more efficient the battery the less that power plant has to burn to charge it. In the mean time I'll maintain my 15 year old Subaru so it runs as cleanly as possible and all the non-renewable resources that went into building it are not dumped in a landfill for a long long time.
